Songpa Korean restaurant with spicy tomato pasta: Wareureu Mansion
In short
Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch is a casual Korean restaurant and drinking spot in Bangi-dong’s food alley in Songpa, Seoul. I visited around 6 p.m. on a Sunday, used the then-current ₩100 draft beer event, and ordered spicy tomato haejang ppeshe and egg bread toast. The ppeshe was generous enough to leave noodles after two people shared it, while the toast was mild and savory.

Where is it in Bangi-dong’s food alley, and what is it like?
While walking around Bangi-dong’s food alley, I found Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch (와르르맨숀 방이점). Its address is 11-8 Ogeum-ro 11-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 2F Room 201. It was deeper inside the food alley, but I did not find it difficult to get to. By evening, the alley was lively, with plenty of people having drinks with friends or partners.

The venue had a casual atmosphere that made it easy to sit down for a drink. It also seemed suited to a second stop after dinner, and with a varied selection of snacks and meal dishes, it looked fine for staying in one place to eat.

When did I use the ₩100 draft beer event?
We visited around 6 p.m. on Sunday and ordered a glass of draft beer for ₩100. At the time of my visit, the event applied on both weekdays and weekends when you visited and ordered before 7 p.m. Even if you entered before 7 p.m., orders placed after 7 p.m. were not eligible. It was an easy way to have a cold draft beer without much cost.

When ordering Saero soju, there were options called “horizontal, upright, and upside down.” Ordering it horizontally meant the bottle was served lying down, while ordering it upside down meant it was served inverted, which was amusing.

How much were the snacks and drinks we ordered?
- Spicy tomato haejang ppeshe: ₩19,900
- Warara Amangchu: ₩4,000
- Egg bread toast: ₩11,000
Macaroni salad was served as the complimentary snack.

Warara Amangchu stood out among the drinks, so we ordered it. It was a good accompaniment when I wanted something sweet between salty, spicy snacks.

How was the spicy tomato haejang ppeshe for two people?
Because I like tomato stew, I chose the spicy tomato haejang ppeshe as our main snack. Other dishes included raw shrimp sashimi, whole steamed squid, assorted pork gabri-sal, and beef tendon hot pot.

The ppeshe contained pasta noodles. There were more noodles than I expected, so two people shared it and still had some left.

The broth was salty and spicy, making it a good match for drinks. The tomato flavor kept it from feeling too heavy, and the lingering heat made me keep taking spoonfuls.

How was the egg bread toast as a dessert?
At the end, we ordered egg bread toast like a dessert. It came with strawberry jam and ice cream, and extra ice cream cost ₩1,500.

The soft egg and bread came together in a mild, savory combination.

It was good with strawberry jam, and it was also good topped with ice cream. As someone who likes dessert, I finished all of the toast.
What was the return-visit coupon benefit at the time?
There was a return-visit coupon in front of the counter. At the time, the notice said that presenting it on the next visit would give you either a jumeokbap (rice ball) or one soft drink free.
