My husband and I had something to celebrate over the weekend, so I wanted to spend a special evening somewhere with a great atmosphere. After thinking it over, I went to check out a cool spot in the Suji-gu Office food alley myself.

This time I visited Bacha Suji Branch, a bar and restaurant near Suji-gu Office Station in Yongin, close enough that it's very easy to reach by public transportation.

Walking from Suji-gu Office Station, and parking

For parking, you can use a nearby paid lot or the Suji-gu Office public parking lot, which is free after 18:00 — so this place is easy to reach whether you drive or take public transit.

I've come here often for casual get-togethers, and it's rare to find a bar with such a great atmosphere near Suji-gu Office, which makes it perfect for a special occasion.

This is a popular Suji spot that often has a wait on weekdays, but since we came on a Sunday evening, we got in right away with no waiting.

The moment we stepped inside, the hip yet upscale interior caught my eye.

The cozy atmosphere makes it a nice spot for quiet conversation and solo drinking in Suji, and it's just as good as a date spot near Suji-gu Office for building memories with a partner.

Whiskey bottles displayed in one corner of the shop

One corner of the shop had a striking display of various whiskey bottles that were a treat to look at.

They serve many kinds of beer, whiskey, and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails and traditional Korean liquor — the range gave us plenty to choose from.

On top of that, they also serve tasty side dishes and pasta known for pairing well with the drinks, which added to the fun of the meal.

Every corner of the place is thoughtfully styled with sentimental props and lighting, making it great for photos, and on cool days like these there's also balcony seating where you can enjoy the outdoor air — a nice touch that lets you choose your seat based on mood.

Honest review of what we ordered: sous-vide pork jowl salad, fresh tteok-jjim, cream draft beer

Among the many menu options, we went with the mood of the night and ordered a cool, smooth cream draft beer along with the house specialties: sous-vide pork jowl salad and fresh tteok-jjim (rice cake stew) with beef brisket and seafood.

Fresh tteok-jjim with beef brisket and seafood

The tteok-jjim arrived in a pot piled generously full, with whole scallops and squid — you could see the freshness of the ingredients with your own eyes.

The spicy-sweet sauce brought out deep flavor from the beef brisket and seafood, and it worked just as well as a hearty meal as it did as a drinking snack.

Sous-vide pork jowl salad

Cooked with a gentle sous-vide method, the pork jowl had no off flavor and tasted clean, pairing perfectly with the special chive salad served alongside.

The savory, tender texture of the pork jowl, paired with a touch of tangy wasabi and salt, was genuinely impressive.

They mentioned refills of the chive salad were available on request, but the portion given from the start was generous enough that we didn't need to ask for more.

Enjoying the cold beer and top-notch snacks while quietly celebrating our anniversary with my husband, we lost track of time.
