Last time I was in Gwangju, Jeonnam, I saw this being sold as a souvenir. Looks like they've opened a branch in Seoul now!

Mugwort-only desserts: Korea's first mugwort choco pie, made since 2016
Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul makes all kinds of desserts with mugwort. Apparently this is the place that first made mugwort choco pie back in 2016! It's a famous Gwangju bakery, one of those must-visit bakery pilgrimage spots...

The whole shop is mugwort, haha. They say they make their desserts healthily using domestically grown mugwort, with no artificial coloring, emulsifiers, margarine, shortening, or preservatives.

Mugwort gives off a distinctly Korean feel, and since it's inside Gwangjang Market, a must-visit spot for foreign tourists, I saw a lot of foreign customers buying gift sets.

The mugwort cheesecake looked delicious too! It's the perfect mini size for eating alone.

Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul menu and gift set lineup
The best part of this Gwangjang Market dessert bakery is really the variety of gift sets. The 3-piece and 6-piece sets are the signature options, and they were neatly packaged, making them easy to choose.

Ssuk's cookies Choco macadamia / sweet pumpkin / sea-breeze mugwort salt Ssuk's scones Domestic soybean tofu / Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort Everything looked healthy, so they were desserts I could eat without any guilt!

Cheesecakes Chocolate cheesecake, mugwort cheesecake Ssuk's Choco Pie Sea-breeze mugwort whole red bean / sea-breeze mugwort injeolmi Gwangju real chocolate / Udo peanut / Nonsan strawberry

Given the name Ssuk's Choco Pie, I thought they'd only have choco pies, but they had all kinds of cookies and scones too.
The choco pies alone come in so many varieties! There's the Gwangju real choco pie with fresh cream instead of marshmallow, the sea-breeze mugwort choco pie, the nutty injeolmi (sweet rice cake) mugwort choco pie, the can't-go-wrong combo of mugwort and red bean, plus Udo peanut choco pie and Nonsan strawberry choco pie. It's distinctive how they try to use ingredients unique to Korea.

Gift wrapping, free stickers and the receipt review freebie
Ssuk's Choco Pie's flagship store is at Gwangju Songjeong Station! Since these packages are great for gift-giving, they'll attach a sticker for free if you ask.

It's great that you can give this as a gift in such a neatly packaged box~ Even the packaging alone radiates mugwort vibes.

If you write a receipt review, they give you a Ssuk's cookie tasting too, so give it a try!! Turns out this place is a real cookie spot, haha.

What 5 choco pie flavors plus salted mugwort cookies look like boxed up
I packed 5 choco pie flavors plus the salted sea-breeze mugwort cookies. They wrapped it up neatly in a green box for me.

The 6-piece set is packaged this neatly. It could easily get messed up if you're carrying it around as a gift, but having each piece individually boxed like this is so great.

Every single one has a distinctive flavor, haha. The sweetness isn't overly strong, so I think it'd make a great gift for parents or older relatives too.

It shows the mugwort choco pie lineup and how to store them. The real chocolate choco pie with fresh cream instead of marshmallow looks so good~ A flavorful dessert made with dough mixed using only fresh cream instead of water!

The best bite: salted sea-breeze mugwort cookie
This is the salted sea-breeze mugwort cookie. I thought the choco pies would be the main event, but these salt cookies turned out to be my favorite... The cookie was slightly crisp and soft, with a moist, tender inside and a really strong mugwort aroma!!

Ssuk's Choco Pie, a Gwangjang Market dessert with such a rich chocolate flavor that it was really delicious. It's a great dessert for gifting.
