Busan sashimi restaurant with free parking in Gwangalli: The Bangpaje
In short
The Bangpaje is a Blue Ribbon-listed sashimi restaurant in Millak-dong, Gwangalli, in Suyeong-gu, Busan. On a Busan trip the seasonal assorted sashimi set (58,000 won) was reserved for dinner, and it filled the table with fish-bone spicy soup, grilled fish, ankimo (monkfish liver) and fried sides alongside the sashimi. With free parking a one-minute walk away at Millak Public Parking Lot and dining rooms plus a banquet hall on the 2nd and 3rd floors, The Bangpaje works just as well for family gatherings and work dinners.

Even though there are tons of sashimi restaurants around Busan, I went to The Bangpaje in Gwangalli because it's kept its Blue Ribbon rating year after year, and the seasonal sashimi looked way too good to pass up! Let's get into the review.

Where is The Bangpaje, and what are its hours?
The Bangpaje is a sashimi restaurant at 24 Gwangan Beach-ro 294beon-gil, Millak-dong, Gwangalli, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's open Monday through Sunday, 11:30–22:00, with a break time from 15:00–17:00 and last order at 20:30.

Free parking at Millak Public Parking Lot, one minute away
For parking, just park at Millak Public Parking Lot, a 1-minute walk away — the restaurant covers it for free!! Definitely park there and enjoy your visit stress-free!!

When you're going out for sashimi in Busan, what you're really hoping for is fresh seafood + a loaded table + that Busan seaside vibe, right? 🌊 The Bangpaje already sounds like the Busan coast just from the name! From the entrance you could feel that lively sashimi-restaurant energy, and it was a great pick for dinner on a Busan trip. Especially setting up a whole spread of sashimi with a shot of soju on a trip… isn't that basically the whole point of visiting Busan? 🍶 haha

2nd and 3rd floor dining rooms for family gatherings and work dinners
The inside of The Bangpaje was bigger than I expected, and it's set up so it's great for family gatherings and work dinners too — the 2nd floor is a dining room and the 3rd floor is a dining banquet hall!!!

What comes in the 58,000 won seasonal sashimi set?
We ordered the seasonal assorted sashimi set!!! This set comes with assorted sashimi / fish-bone spicy soup / grilled fish / ankimo (monkfish liver) / sauces / fried sides, and more!

The interior had such a calm, cozy atmosphere, and you could see the chef cooking away in the back!

Since we had a reservation, the table was already set so nicely! Such a nice touch...

Which side dishes does The Bangpaje serve first?
The first thing I look forward to at a sashimi restaurant is the side dishes that come out first!! It's not just sashimi plopped down — watching all the little dishes get set out one by one is half the fun. From tangy-sweet dishes that whet your appetite to sides that go perfectly with seafood, the table filled up fast!!

The side dishes included seasoned crab, sweet potato fritters, futomaki, soy sauce shrimp, seasoned ankimo, and more — such a nice variety!

Ordering the seasonal set means the spicy fish-bone soup comes as standard too, and I loved that! Spicy soup is a must when you're eating sashimi — having that spicy broth alongside the raw fish was so good!

How does the assorted sashimi itself taste?
The seasonal set (58,000 won), and finally — the main event, the sashimi! It arrived beautifully plated, freshness practically radiating off it! Sashimi has to be sliced thick to taste right. Bouncy yet chewy texture, and the more you chewed, the more that clean, mild flavor came through! I kept saying sashimi in Busan is just different, and dug in eagerly haha,,

Above all, the flavor at this Busan pier-side sashimi spot was great, but I was honestly shocked by how fresh the quality was. Each type of fish was arranged so appetizingly, looked great, and tasted fresh and delicious! Every single kind of sashimi was fresh and clean-tasting!!!

Oh, and before the sashimi there were seafood sides to enjoy alongside it too! Tasted like it had just come straight out of the ocean — the moment it really hit me that I was in Busan!

Especially when you're stuck deciding what to eat for dinner in Busan, a full sashimi spread is hard to go wrong with! If you come to The Bangpaje, I definitely recommend getting this seasonal set!

Why The Bangpaje earns its Blue Ribbon listing
Freshness matters most with sashimi, and the bouncy texture and clean taste were great, but more than anything I felt satisfied that I'd properly eaten seafood while visiting Busan!! Turns out there's a real reason it's a Blue Ribbon restaurant haha

If you're looking for a sashimi restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, I'd definitely recommend The Bangpaje in Gwangalli — great quality and reasonable prices.
