Jeonju noodle restaurant, lunch with a toddler: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu
In short
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch is a Korean noodle restaurant in the Eco City area of Songcheon-dong, Jeonju, serving dak kalguksu (chicken knife-cut noodle soup) in a chicken bone broth stirred with ground perilla seed. A large chicken kalguksu with extra chicken at 16,000 won and a chogye mil-myeon with extra noodles at 14,000 won arrived in washbasin-sized portions, and because the seasoning was strong for a toddler the staff added more broth for free. With high chairs, kids' tableware and private rooms for 6 to 14 people, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu made for an easy family lunch.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu

I went to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu, a great lunch spot in Jeonju's Eco City and an even better pick for a Songcheon-dong family gathering! The nutty perilla-based broth with tender boiled chicken is basically a health tonic dressed up as a meal!!

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu at a glance
- Chewy handmade noodles in a chicken bone and perilla broth! Paired perfectly with the house-made silbi kimchi (light-brined kimchi) made fresh daily!
- A family restaurant that works for kids and grandparents alike
- The chewy, spicy chogye mil-myeon (cold buckwheat noodles) is also a must-try!
- Solid parking in front of the store plus an affiliated lot at Namhae Makhoe!
- Baby chairs and kids' dishware available
- If you want jjimdak, call ahead to reserve it
- Group rooms need a separate phone inquiry

⏰11:00–21:00 / break time 15:00–17:00 / last order 20:00 / closed 2nd and 4th Mondays / no break time on weekends or holidays / reservations, takeout, delivery, groups all available
Where do you park?
You can park right in front of the store — that's where I parked!
If there's no spot, you can use the Namhae Makhoe parking lot!!
Inside the restaurant and the private rooms
As usual, I came early. By the time I finished eating and left, the place was packed. But turnover is quick, so no need to stress about waiting~ it's the perfect lunch spot in Jeonju's Eco City!

True to being a great spot for Songcheon-dong family gatherings, group room reservations are possible too — there are 3 enclosed rooms with doors on the side of the restaurant, fitting 6–14 people. Great for family gatherings or work dinners! Just call the store for group inquiries.

The restaurant is really clean, and with tables for 2, 4, 6, and 8, it works whether you're eating solo or with a big group.

Kids' tableware and the self-serve bar
I'm grateful there are plenty of baby chairs, and even kids' dishware at the self-serve bar. The side dishes are danmuji (pickled radish) and silbi kimchi! Small plates, ladles, tongs, scissors — whatever you need is at the self-serve bar.
Good news — they use domestic napa cabbage!! By the way, the kimchi here is amazing.

Eonyang-style kalguksu — chicken bone broth + perilla powder (no chicken) / Chicken kalguksu — chicken bone broth + perilla powder + half a chicken
Chewy noodles made in house and cold-aged
The noodles had real chew and were delicious — turns out they're handmade and low-temperature aged with care! You can definitely tell the difference!
The menu and the add-on options

I took photos of the menu! For reference! On the day I visited, the jjimdak was sold out. A bit disappointing, but luckily the chicken kalguksu was more than satisfying!! If you want jjimdak, I'd recommend calling ahead.

Each menu item comes with add-on options. I liked that you can size up the kalguksu, and you can add extra noodles to the mil-myeon too! Most of the folks there for Songcheon-dong family gatherings were eating jjimdak!
How the meal went

What I ordered: chicken kalguksu large + extra chicken ₩16,000 / chogye mil-myeon + extra noodles ₩14,000 / rice ₩1,000

The basic side dishes are danmuji and silbi kimchi!! Made fresh every day, apparently! It's spicy and a little fiery, but addictively good!! You can grab more from the self-serve bar.
How big is a large chicken kalguksu with extra chicken?
The large size for the chicken kalguksu is +₩1,000, and extra chicken is +₩4,000. Ordering it this way basically gets you a whole chicken's worth of kalguksu, enough for two people to share. Since Chaeni was with us, I added rice too! Haha.
The chicken bone broth was loaded with perilla — seemingly sieved before going in, since it was incredibly smooth with no gritty texture. And it's piled with plump, chewy handmade noodles!! Being the large size, the portion was massive — basically washbasin-sized naengmyeon (cold noodle) territory, my husband and I were momentarily stunned... haha. Perfect to order for a Jeonju Eco City lunch or a Songcheon-dong family gathering!!
The chicken inside was so tender you could practically eat it with your gums. Haha.
Too strongly seasoned for a toddler, so we asked for extra broth
It comes pre-seasoned, and it was a bit too strong for Chaeni, so we asked for extra broth! They brought it right over for free!

The handmade noodles with chicken on top are delicious on their own, but paired with the silbi kimchi it's absolute honey — not going to lie, I ate way too much kimchi... Haha. I figured this would be the most popular dish, and sure enough, every other table was eating jjimdak or chicken kalguksu too.
Chogye mil-myeon, the chilled wheat noodles
Chogye mil-myeon! Still hot out, so I wanted something cold. It comes with a slushy iced broth and a generous helping of neatly trimmed chicken breast. Highly recommend for a Jeonju Eco City lunch!

Wait, did I really need extra noodles? The portion here is huge haha. The noodles have a sort of corn-noodle feel to them, but they're quite chewy.

Sweet, tangy, and spicy — spicier than I expected, so spice-averse folks might tear up a little. It's the right dish to cool off in the lingering heat! It's a totally different vibe from the chicken kalguksu but pairs really well with it, so I'd recommend ordering both!
Final verdict
A great Jeonju Eco City lunch and a perfect spot for a Songcheon-dong family gathering — Eonyang Dak Kalguksu! Delicious and filling but also healthy, so next time I'll bring my parents!! Chance of returning: 100000000000%
