Chicken noodle soup with extra chicken in Jeonju: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu

In short

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch is a chicken bone broth kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant next to the Starbucks at Songcheon-dong intersection in Jeonju. The writer added half a chicken to the chicken kalguksu & mandu 4-piece set and paired it with chogye bibim milmyeon and a bowl of rice for a meal with her child, and loved the generously sized bowls and adjustable seasoning. With dedicated parking and a baby chair on hand, it's an easy pick for a family meal out.

I'd been eyeing this new place every time I passed by, and today I finally made it!

A new lunch spot in Jeonju Eco City, right across from the Lotte Cinema building on Songcheon-dong, next to Starbucks — a chicken kalguksu place. I went to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch and had chicken kalguksu and bibim milmyeon.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch sits right on the main road at Songcheon-dong intersection — exactly where Songcheon-dong meets Eco City! It's next to the Songcheon branch of Starbucks, with a parking lot right off the main road. If it fills up, there's a parking arrangement with a nearby restaurant too.

A clean, tidy storefront. The summer new-menu sign was so huge I told myself I had to try it as soon as I walked in, hehe.

Songcheon-dong restaurant alley — is parking easy?

Parking is always a worry in the Songcheon-dong restaurant alley, but this place has a decent-sized dedicated lot out front, plus a link to the big Namhae Makhoe parking lot nearby, which is great.

I came for an early dinner. While we ate, lots of people kept coming in — this really is a recommended lunch-and-dinner spot in Jeonju Eco City, a solid chicken bone broth specialist brand.

Waitlist sheet placed in front of the restaurant

True to a popular restaurant, there was even a waitlist sheet out front. The counter area also doubled nicely as a delivery pickup station.

Seating and family-friendly touches

The restaurant is spacious, with tables ranging from 2-seaters to 4-seaters. Looks like you can inquire about reserving a room for group use — though the room wasn't open to walk-ins on a normal day. Every table is managed through a table-order system.

A busy kitchen in the back, and up front a baby chair and disposable bib set up nicely for a family meal.

Basic side dishes are brought to you, and extra sides come from a self-serve bar. They even had house-made silbi kimchi, which pairs perfectly with chicken kalguksu. Kids' forks and spoons were on hand too.

Calm, clear signage is posted all around the restaurant. A kalguksu place that makes its own noodles in-house — as a noodle lover, I couldn't resist!

Country-of-origin labeling was clearly posted too, in a clean interior — this chicken kalguksu spot really has it together. I got even more excited hearing it's made with perilla seeds, haha.

The restrooms are neatly separated for men and women, right inside the restaurant. There was even a full-length mirror near the entrance, which was a nice touch!

Review event and menu signage

There's a review event running too. And they even have a half-portion 4p mandu (dumpling) set as a starter, which is great for pairing with the main.

Starting with the mandu 4p

The mandu came out first along with the basic side dishes. The dumplings were chewy and delicious! A great starter.

My kid ate them up happily, and they weren't too salty — really tasty, haha. Next time I might order a full portion on its own.

Chicken kalguksu with extra half chicken — how much do you get?

I was genuinely surprised at how big the bowl was for this lunch spot in Jeonju Eco City. The pale chicken bone broth comes topped with perilla powder, and with the extra chicken added, the portion was even heartier!

The broth looked thick and promising. It was easy to split with a ladle, haha. It comes seasoned fairly well by default, so if you'd rather eat it plain, they'll bring extra unseasoned broth on request — worth checking!

Nice touch that they brought extra broth separately. And the milmyeon (wheat noodles) also came out generous and hearty too. Loved the big bowl, haha. I ordered the bibim (mixed/spicy) version, but you can also order extra broth on the side, just so you know!

I love perilla and I love chicken, so this was a great match. I debated between this and dak gomtang (chicken soup), but figured the kalguksu is the main dish here after all — good call, since it's house-made noodles, and the chicken was so tender from being slow-boiled until soft. I also ordered a bowl of rice to mix into the broth and share with my kid!

How was the chogye bibim milmyeon?

The chogye milmyeon was really, really good. The noodles were tasty and chewy, haha!!!

Now I'm curious about the plain broth version too, but the bibim was great, haha. Exactly the kind of bibim sauce I like, and it paired perfectly with the mandu. Two cute little quail eggs came along with it.

A tip for eating here

My tip for this lunch spot in Jeonju Eco City — order a bowl of rice and mix it into the broth. It was great for feeding my little one too, and a satisfying spot for a quick family meal out!

Another day of a filling, satisfying meal. A great new lunch spot in Jeonju Eco City — this was my visit to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu in Songcheon-dong :) Menu prices as of September 2026.
