Yangyang Korean restaurant for galbitang and meat naengmyeon: Yeoyejeong
In short
Yeoyejeong is a Korean meat restaurant in Yangyang, Gangwon, serving pork, beef, and lunch specials. After a Gangneung trip, I had 15,000 won galbitang and 13,000 won meat naengmyeon with charcoal-grilled meat and pot rice. Yeoyejeong is somewhere I want to return to for grilled meat.

After wrapping up my Gangneung trip and before heading home, I stopped by Yeoyejeong (여여정), a meat restaurant near Naksansa in Yangyang, for lunch. Bottom line: the lunch dishes were substantial and delicious, and I want to come back to grill meat next time—200% willing to revisit!

Lunch at Yeoyejeong in Yangyang
Yeoyejeong is at 653-2 Sangpyeong-ri, Seo-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon, and is open Monday through Sunday from 11:30 to 21:00. Break time is 15:00–17:00, it is regularly closed every Tuesday, and parking is available in front.

You can feel the energy of an old-school Yangyang local favorite right from the exterior~

The parking lot in front is as wide as an open lot, so set those parking worries aside~
It looks like they offer pickup nearby, too~ A van is always on standby, so ask in advance if you would like pickup service!
I arrived around 1 p.m., after the lunch rush, and could enjoy a quiet meal. The interior was neat, and there is also a separate private room for groups of up to 24, making Yeoyejeong a great Yangyang meat restaurant for company dinners and gatherings.

There are high chairs too, so it is a nice space for a family meal~ And true to its reputation as a local Yangyang favorite, there were everyone from older diners eating alone to families having a meal together.

The guestbook-style space on one wall has such a nice feel too~!
Write a Google or Naver review to join the lucky-draw event; write both and you get pork tail as a complimentary extra too~
Yeoyejeong menu and lunch specials

At Yeoyejeong, pork and beef are the main event. They say their salt-aged fresh meat is grilled over premium coffee-tree charcoal to bring out its quality to the fullest. It is a meat restaurant frequented by locals, with good-value lunch specials, so it stays busy at lunch as well as dinner.

I liked that water comes in hygienic individual bottles~

When we ordered the lunch special, four basic banchan (Korean side dishes) arrived—nothing flashy, but all neatly presented~
Ordering galbitang and meat naengmyeon
- Meat naengmyeon ₩13,000
- Galbitang ₩15,000
- Drinks ₩2,000

We ordered the good-value lunch specials because we wanted a filling meal.
Simply simmered galbitang
The galbitang (beef short-rib soup) arrived bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), and the aroma alone was already waking up all my senses.
I love scallions, so when they are chopped in like this, ohhh, it makes me so happy~
The galbitang was packed, packed with meat, plus glass noodles! The broth was clean and mild, with a refreshing finish.

The galbitang broth was not overly oily, which showed how well the meat had been boiled. And with that familiar, umami-packed broth, not mixing rice into it would be a crime ^__^

The meat was so tender that it disappeared after barely a few chews, haha. No unpleasant meat smell, and I loved that fat was not floating all over the broth!

Dip a piece of meat into the soy sauce served alongside, and that sweet-savory flavor doubles~

A spoonful of rice in the cool, mild galbitang broth topped with kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi)—for a meat restaurant, you might mistake it for a galbitang specialist?! Haha.

The galbitang lunch special comes with sotbap (pot-cooked rice), making it a truly filling lunch.
As you would expect from sotbap, there was a generous portion of rice~ Scoop it out, pour in warm water to make nurungji (scorched rice), put the lid on, and after finishing the galbitang, a savory nurungji is born.
Putting kkakdugi on top of nurungji is simply the rule, haha.
Naengmyeon with charcoal-grilled meat
Now it was time for the meat naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). Great news for people who love both meat and naengmyeon! You can have both, so I highly recommend it for solo diners too~

They give you this much charcoal-grilled meat, and the naengmyeon lunch special is ₩13,000—yes, this really is a Yangyang local favorite!

The meat was sweet-savory marinated charcoal-grilled meat, cut into easy-to-eat pieces and served with seasoned chives, so good alongside the naengmyeon~ The seasoned chives were not aggressively flavored, so kids enjoy them too.
These days, Gaeddongi has been eating vegetables well~ The seasoning on the chives must have been just right, because they ate them happily with the meat!! Haha.
The naengmyeon had little shards of ice floating in it, and its spicy mixed sauce paired so well with the meat that the bowl disappeared in no time.
We ate well, so thumbs up~

After finishing, we had a palate-cleansing candy and a cup of instant coffee~ Then, home we go!

✔️ A favorite among Yangyang residents too! ✔️ If you are looking for a local Yangyang meat restaurant, I recommend visiting Yeoyejeong!
