Paju pork rib restaurant for toddlers: Jeongwon Galbi

In short

Jeongwon Galbi Paju Main Branch is a pork rib restaurant in Paju, Gyeonggi, suited to family meals with young children. We visited with our 18-month-old for marinated pork, 3,000 won doenjang jjigae, and 5,000 won mul-naengmyeon, and the baby ate the meat very well. A comfortable pick for family dining and group gatherings.

A family meal in Paju Unjeong with an 18-month-old

Jeongwon Galbi, a great pork rib spot with room-style seating for family gatherings, company dinners, and meals out with a baby

While looking for somewhere to eat with our 18-month-old, we visited Jeongwon Galbi Paju Main Branch in Paju Unjeong. When eating out with a baby, the food matters, of course, but I also look closely at whether the atmosphere lets us eat comfortably with a child, whether there are dishes the child can eat, and whether it is a good place for families. ☺️ Jeongwon Galbi had a varied menu and seemed to have a family-friendly atmosphere, so we gave it a try. To give you the conclusion first, our baby ate the ribs so well and we were able to dine comfortably too, so we were very happy with it. 👍🏻

How were parking and the wait?

When dining out with a baby, convenient parking matters just as much as a restaurant's atmosphere. Jeongwon Galbi shares its parking lot with Patio and Somunnan Paldang Naengmyeon, so parking was not difficult and we could visit comfortably. 👍🏻 There was a Catchtable kiosk at the entrance. Luckily, we waited only about 10 minutes, roughly the time it took to clear a table, before going in. On weekends and at meal times, though, there may be many family diners and groups, so if you are planning a visit, it may be a good idea to join the waitlist ahead of time and arrive at the right time.

Comfortable seating with a baby and the menu

As a rib restaurant, it had many visitors there for family meals or group gatherings. When we visited, we could actually see lots of families dining there. The restaurant also has room-style areas without doors, which looked good for eating a little more comfortably as a family or gathering with several people. It had an atmosphere well suited to meals with parents, family occasions, and group meetups too.

For visitors like us with a baby, it is also important that the space is not too cramped or hectic. Jeongwon Galbi felt comparatively spacious, so it was less of a burden to eat there with an 18-month-old. They also had high chairs, which made visiting with a baby convenient. Haha. Beyond the meat dishes, there was a wide range of meal options, making it easy to choose something to eat with a child.

The menu was neatly organized over just two simple pages, so it was easy to read. 👍🏻 There were various meat dishes including ribs, along with meal dishes, so it seemed great for a family visit where everyone could choose what they wanted.

The self-service bar and side dishes

I also liked that the self-service bar was kept neatly organized. It did not have every side dish from the basic table setting, but we could bring back plenty of ssam vegetables, pickled onions, salad, and more.

The basic side dishes included fresh kimchi, cabbage salad, chicory salad, pickled onions, seasoned raw crab, and pickled perilla leaves. Everything was nicely prepared, and I especially liked the fresh kimchi and seasoned raw crab. The seasoned raw crab cannot be refilled, though; you have to purchase more. So we refilled the delicious fresh kimchi instead. Haha.

Jeongwon marinated grilled pork that our 18-month-old enjoyed

Jeongwon marinated grilled pork, ₩15,900 (U.S. marinated pork neck, 320 g). Marinated ribs are a must for a family meal, right? We ordered two servings of Jeongwon marinated grilled pork too.

Because every rib restaurant has a slightly different marinade, I was a little worried that it might be too salty or sweet for our 18-month-old. But once we tried it, the seasoning was not as strong as expected and the sweetness was not excessive, so it was fine to eat with our baby. The marinade had soaked into the meat just enough, creating a gently sweet and savory flavor when grilled. It was not aggressively sweet or salty, so it was easy to enjoy.

The nicely browned meat was appetizingly seared on the outside while staying tender and moist inside. Marinated ribs can become tiring after a few pieces when they are too sweet, but Jeongwon's marinated grilled pork was not overly sweet, so it went well with rice and was tasty wrapped in ssam vegetables too. Personally, I also enjoyed it with the pickled onions.

We cut the meat into small pieces and fed it to our 18-month-old with rice, and the baby ate it much better than expected. Haha. When a child eats well while dining out, parents can enjoy their meal much more comfortably, right? That day, our baby ate happily and so did we, making it a satisfying meal for the whole family. 😊

Dessert dishes to have after the meat

Dessert doenjang jjigae, ₩3,000, plus a bowl of rice, ₩1,000. Doenjang jjigae is indispensable after meat! What I especially liked was that it was available as a dessert-sized dish. After eating meat, ordering a regular meal dish can sometimes feel like too much, but the dessert menu was just the right amount to have with the meat.

Dessert mul-naengmyeon, ₩5,000. Ribs and cold noodles are an unbeatable combination, after all. 😋 We ordered the dessert mul-naengmyeon too. Having the cool noodles after the meat felt like it freshened up my palate, and they went very well with the ribs.

Plum tea after the meal

After finishing our meal, I saw that they also had plum tea and a coffee machine ready. I love plum tea, so this little service was quietly delightful. Haha. Having a cup of plum tea to freshen up before leaving made the finish feel good too. There was also an event where you could get free bead ice cream for writing a review. If you are planning to visit, it may be worth checking ahead of time. 😊

For a family meal in Paju Unjeong with a baby

Jeongwon Galbi in Paju Unjeong was a place we visited with our 18-month-old. More than anything, our baby ate well, which made it a satisfying meal from a parent's perspective, and I also liked the varied meal dishes and the smaller dessert dishes that were easy to enjoy alongside the meat. It is a versatile choice for family meals, meals with parents, and group gatherings, so I would recommend Jeongwon Galbi if you are looking for a rib restaurant in Paju Unjeong where you can go with a baby. 🥰
