Suyeong pizza restaurant with shrimp bisque pasta: Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile is a casual pizza and pasta restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, tucked into an unsigned alley near Gwangan Station. We tried the Classic Combo with half hot honey pepperoni and potato pizza, plus shrimp bisque cream pasta. Verdict: a great pairing of chewy aged dough and deeply shrimp-scented pasta.

Finding Extra Mile in an unsigned alley
While looking for a good pizza place in Gwangalli, there was an alley we nearly walked straight past. Since there is no separate sign, first-time visitors might get confused about the location.

Extra Mile has been quietly gaining word-of-mouth attention lately for pizza made with dough cold-fermented for 48 hours. It is a place that has only recently started becoming known among Suyeong-gu restaurants, which made me even more curious. We heard it is popular with younger people these days, so although my husband and I are old, we went to see for ourselves. Haha.

Once we got there, it turned out to be just a quick walk from home—a place we had somehow passed by without ever noticing.

Extra Mile is on Suyeong-ro 554beonga-gil, and because there is no sign, it is best to look it up before you go. Enter the side alley using the Gwangnam Police Substation of Suyeong Police Station as your landmark, and you will see a white-fronted building. It is easiest to walk from Exit 5 of Gwangan Station while checking the signs. We live nearby and only found out it was here this time.

A wood-toned space for an easy meal
As you walk in, the wood-toned materials and neatly set tables are the first things that catch your eye.

Rather than a formal restaurant, it was set up with a relaxed mood where you can simply sit down and eat. Aprons and clothes hangers are available from the entrance, so you can eat without worrying about splashing sauce on your clothes.

Each table also has a coloring activity set out, so feel free to use it.

Ordering a half-and-half pizza with the Classic Combo
We started choosing from the menu as soon as we sat down and settled on the Classic Combo for two. We chose hot honey pepperoni for the pizza and shrimp bisque cream for the pasta. The person taking our order kindly told us the pizza could be made half-and-half, so we changed the other half to potato pizza. That let us enjoy two flavors on one pie.

The pizza here is said to use dough made with Italian Caputo flour and a biga pre-fermentation method, then cold-fermented for 48 hours.

The texture of hot honey pepperoni and potato
Taking bites of the half hot honey pepperoni and half potato pizza, the dough texture immediately stood out. It was lightly crisp on the outside and chewy within, with a subtle nutty flavor from the flour coming through the more we chewed.

On the pepperoni side, honey over a spicy sauce created a clear sweet-and-salty balance, while dollops of sour cream here and there kept the heat from becoming too much.

The potato side had both thinly sliced potatoes and crisp fried potato shreds, so it felt as though the texture changed twice within one slice. The salty potatoes and chewy dough made for a combination I kept reaching for more than expected. Having pepperoni and potato on one pie seems like a great choice for anyone who wants both a spicy and a mild flavor at once!

Shrimp bisque cream pasta with a deep ocean aroma
We ordered the shrimp bisque cream pasta, and its ocean aroma came through deeply. The cream sauce was rich without becoming cloyingly heavy, with the distinctive scent of shrimp gently infused throughout. The shrimp itself stayed plump and satisfyingly firm, and the flavor of gamtae (seaweed) was clear too!

The pickles were tangy and still nicely crisp, making them great to have between bites of pizza and pasta. We liked them so much that we got refills and ate several more plates' worth.

A setting for both children and dates
With coloring sheets and crayons prepared at every table, I think families with children could use the restaurant comfortably too.

There is also a spot inside decorated with dried flowers, so taking photos did not feel awkward. I heard many people who are looking for good pizza come here for dates, but its casual atmosphere also makes it an easy choice for a family gathering.
