A feast of delicious Japanese food cooked up by a head chef who trained at an actual culinary school in Tokyo — Incheon Nonhyeon favorite Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch 💛 The chef won an award at the graduation exhibition of Hattori Nutrition College in Tokyo, and has appeared on major broadcasters like SBS, MBC, KBS, and Chosun Ilbo — a well-known Incheon Japanese restaurant with genuinely reasonable prices, making it easy to visit for a cheap solo meal, a couple's date, or a family gathering.

Apparently there's usually a wait — a whole row of waiting seats lined up along the window in the hallway inside the restaurant, wow. High chairs were also thoughtfully set up so families could visit comfortably.

The Hattori Nutrition College diploma and award plaques were on display, which made me trust the place even more. ✨✨

Arrived on a Saturday early evening and there was no wait yet, lucky us, seated right away!! People started pouring in after that and a wait began to form. Talk about good timing~~

Seeing coupons hanging in bunches like this really drove home how popular Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch is.

Inside, there were detailed descriptions of each menu item and how best to eat it, so reading through them while waiting for the food only built up my anticipation even more. haha

Plus each table had little notes of comfort and luck, so we weren't bored at all pulling one out and chatting about it! Each table also had hair ties and aprons ready, which I thought was such a nice touch 👍

A table truly loaded down with food, the Fukuoka Couple Set for Two! 💛💛 Since it's two full set menus combined into one couple set — ramen set and assorted sushi set — the portions were incredibly generous. haha

First, salad to keep the blood sugar spike in check ~ the sauce was a touch tangy too, refreshing the palate!

Next, dug into the cold assorted sushi first 🍣 ✔️eel, tuna, salmon, cooked shrimp, raw shrimp, egg roll, eel, fried tofu pouch — at a glance you could tell the sushi was plump and fresh, arranged nicely by type > < The sushi rice was just the right amount tangy and moist, pairing perfectly with the sushi 💛 Ate them one by one and before long the plate was empty~~

Korean-style spicy ramen, down to choosing the toppings

After the rice, time for soup! We went with Korean-style spicy ramen as a couple. Along with the ramen flavor, we could also choose the toppings, and we picked two soft-boiled eggs + standard chashu. Filled up on the tender chashu and soft-boiled eggs, then slurped down the thin noodles and broth! Plenty of bean sprouts too, cooling and a little sweet, with good texture. The broth was just the right kind of pleasantly spicy that I kept going back for more. 🤤🤤 Our top pick was Korean-style spicy ramen, for both of us!!

Sides and dessert

The sides that came with the set — jumbo shrimp tempura and chicken karaage — dipped generously into the tangy tartar sauce was pure bliss 💛 The fried tofu sushi didn't miss either ㅠㅠ Really regretted not being able to drink beer since we drove~~

The set also thoughtfully included sweet potato salad and candied sweet potato, so dessert was covered too ~ With a soda included as well, drinking that alongside everything left me feeling like I'd burst by the end. lol
