Yeonnam-dong espresso bar with strawberry milk B.I.C.: Pip Espresso

In short

Pip Espresso Bar is an espresso-focused café tucked into an alley off Seongmisan-ro 29-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. On this visit the order was Pip Coffee, an Earl Grey-based espresso with cream, the B.I.C. (7,000 won), which mixes strawberry milk with cream, and a chocolate financier — and Pip Coffee won by a landslide. Pip Espresso Bar is not just a pretty café; the coffee itself is reason enough to come back.

What kind of café is Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong?

There are so many cafés in Yeonnam-dong that I've walked into pretty ones for the looks and ended up with so-so coffee. So these days, even when a café has great vibes, I'm a little suspicious of the coffee going in haha. But Pip Espresso Bar (피프에스프레소바) is genuinely a place I want to go back to for the coffee. It's an espresso-focused café with all kinds of variations, and with a visitor rating around 4.8, it's a Yeonnam-dong café worth checking out if you love coffee.

Pip Espresso Bar's exterior: full Yeonnam-dong alley mood

Pip Espresso Bar sits tucked inside a Yeonnam-dong alley, and the exterior is clean and stylish from the outside. Instead of being decorated with too many flashy details, it has that particular espresso bar mood, which won me over before I even walked in. There's also an outdoor terrace, so on a nice day, drinking coffee out there would have a great atmosphere too.

Inside Pip Espresso Bar: seating and interior

Walk inside Pip Espresso Bar and you find wood and steel mixed together just right, giving it a warm yet hip mood. When I set my coffee and dessert down and took photos, the atmosphere just did the work for me on its own ✨. The espresso cup and silver tray combo especially is so pretty, I'd recommend it as a Yeonnam-dong date café too! You come in for the photos and leave genuinely won over by the coffee haha.

Pip Coffee: the Earl Grey cream espresso to order first

What I liked most, hands down, was Pip Coffee. It's espresso combined with an Earl Grey base and cream. From the first sip I thought, "oh, this place really knows what they're doing." The deep flavor of the espresso holds the center while the soft cream makes it go down much more smoothly.

So it's not just a sweet cream coffee — a subtle aroma lingers behind the rich coffee taste, which made me want sip after sip. I normally get tired of drinks like this halfway through because they get too sweet, but here the coffee's presence stayed strong throughout, which I loved.

It felt like a waste to have just coffee, so I also ordered the choco financier at Pip Espresso Bar. As in the photo, chocolate chunks are studded all over the long financier, so it looks rich just from the visuals. One bite and the heavy sweetness of the chocolate pairs really well with the strong espresso. Especially if you take a sip of Pip Coffee and then a bite of the choco financier, the bitterness of the coffee meets the sweetness of the chocolate and suddenly you've got room for dessert again...^^

Pip Coffee is seriously delicious. If I come back here, I'm ordering this again.

B.I.C. (7,000 won): what strawberry milk espresso tastes like

Pip Espresso Bar's B.I.C. combines espresso with strawberry milk and cream. The current listed price is ₩7,000. Strawberry milk with espresso sounded like a question mark at first haha, but once you actually drink it, the espresso cuts right through the sweet, soft flavor. If you're into something a little different from the usual latte, this one's worth trying! If I had to pick just one between the two, though, Pip Coffee wins hands down 👑

Is Pip Espresso Bar worth it for good coffee in Seoul?

If you're after a place with genuinely good coffee rather than just a pretty café, I'd recommend Pip Espresso Bar. Pip Coffee in particular was so good I'd come back for that one drink alone! True to being an espresso specialty spot, the coffee has real depth and presence, which coffee lovers especially will appreciate. Great for finding a good-atmosphere café on a Yeonnam-dong date, or whenever you're craving a strong cup ☕️🖤
