Today I'm sharing my review from a place I went to overcome the trauma of my first painful semi-permanent tattoo and finally get natural, satisfying eyebrows with almost no pain — the moment I looked in the mirror afterward made me smile. I'm writing this honestly, hoping it helps anyone on the fence about whether to go.

Where in Sangmu — a café building behind the outlet

There's a really large café building behind the Gwangju outlet mall — the first floor is a café, and the second floor is exactly where I went.

Could it possibly get this hot? That's what I thought, and sure enough it did that day too. And the moment I opened the door and stepped in — ah! Such coolness and refreshment~

I was also surprised by how spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean it was.

Since they use the entire second floor of that big building I saw from outside,

the waiting area was fresh and comfortable, and each individual treatment room felt private and cozy.

The consultation — starting with why the red scarring was there

After filling out my personal chart at my appointment time, the consultation with the director began.

The director not only does semi-permanent procedures but also teaches trainee students and business-startup education, and has award records from various national beauty skill competitions — an expert among experts.

I had my first procedure two years ago, so this was my second time.

I got it done later than my friends did, and back then I got talked into it by an SNS algorithm (haha) and went somewhere not too far from home —

where a very young designer, without much consultation, drew it painfully and not really to my liking, and two years passed like that.

Anyway, once it had faded enough, every time I looked in the mirror I kept thinking I needed to get it redone,

and this time I decided I absolutely had to go to someone genuinely skilled, not some place plastered with dramatic before-and-afters. So, I went all the way to Gwangju!

The director I met at the shop had a trustworthy, quiet charisma — from her walk to her posture to the way she spoke, brief but warm and to the point.

She asked if I had a design in mind, so I showed her reference photos from my phone gallery and told her I wanted natural-looking brows.

I thought I had barely any scarring left, but she told me it wasn't insignificant. Then she carefully explained, step by step, what had caused the red scarring in the first place.

To sum it up briefly, she explained that on fair skin, the pigment had gone too deep into the skin layers. The way she explained it showed such professional knowledge and long experience that my slightly tense body and mind relaxed.

It really drove home how important it is to check someone's career and skill before going in blind based only on Instagram photos.

Not a base sketch — a design sketch

After listening to everything I said, the director sat me down and, with the presence of a makeup artist, quickly sketched the right side. Not a base sketch, but a design sketch!

Should we extend it a bit longer? Lower the arch a little? Let's make it more natural! — she sketched it out while talking through it with me.

I was satisfied, and she was too! Once we both nodded at one design, she erased the sketch, brought me back to my original brows, and the second stage began.

I really felt like a great eyebrow place in Gwangju is on another level.

After the natural, comfortable back-and-forth of questions and answers, I had numbing cream on for about 25 minutes. She even told me, please rest comfortably.

The procedure — freehand, under an hour

Now, time for the real thing! This place strictly manages materials and hygiene, using single-use items only, and going all the way to Gwangju for this, I ended up with eyebrows like this:

• No base sketch ❗️
• No flinching from pain, no tension ❗️
• Finished in under an hour ❗️

Haha, I'm not angry. She doesn't draw over a sketched template — she draws freehand, right onto the bare skin, quick and confident strokes. It's a skill level most people couldn't even come close to.

In the photo taken right after finishing, the red scarring was covered, my expression looked calmer, and my eyes and face felt more balanced and settled. I'm satisfied! My family's reaction was different from the first time two years ago too — they said it came out well. (Last time they kept tilting their heads going, is this really right?)

Aftercare and when to get the retouch

• Avoid water or oil touching the area for 24 hours after the procedure
• Carefully apply the cream you're given for 3 days
• For the following week, avoid scratching so it can naturally flake off, and avoid sweaty, humid environments like saunas or swimming

Aftercare matters just as much as the procedure itself.

And after 3–4 weeks, you have to go back for a retouch. The retouch is part of the process~ How long the eyebrow tattoo lasts varies by person, but it's generally around 2 to 3 years. It depends on skin type and aftercare habits — for me, it stayed well through year one, then started fading a bit from year two. The director reassured me that this time the red scarring shouldn't come back much, which put my mind at ease on the way home.

I think I'm going to make this my go-to place for eyebrows in Gwangju now.
