So this time I finally worked up the courage and got an SMP (scalp micropigmentation) treatment at Doteurak, an Apgujeong scalp micropigmentation studio! Let me show you the before-and-after first, since that's probably what you're most curious about

A bit embarrassing, honestly, it feels like I'm exposing myself pretty rawly. But you can see how the empty M-shaped area got filled in after just one SMP session, right?!

What I asked in the consultation — why does the color fade, and how much is SMP?

I had my consultation right at my appointment time, and the wall full of awards and certifications immediately caught my eye!

I asked why my previous treatment elsewhere had faded over time, and they kindly explained that how long it lasts can vary depending on the pigment quality, technique, and depth of the treatment

And the most important part, SMP cost!! They said it varies by area, coverage, and number of sessions, so it seems best to get an in-person consultation for an accurate quote!

No anesthesia, 30 minutes — does SMP hurt?

Time to move into the treatment room! I was a little startled to hear they'd start right away with no anesthesia, but once it actually began, it was way more comfortable than I expected

Personally, it felt like light tapping or scratching on the scalp with a fingernail, and considering how nervous I was, I adjusted to it faster than I thought. Oh, and the director's conversation game was wild, haha. The session runs about 30 minutes, but it felt more like 10..?

Round 1 results and booking round 2

Ta-da! Even with just round 1 of SMP, you can clearly see the empty M-shaped area filled in, right?! It's not a finished result yet since it's only round 1, but even looking in the mirror, my hairline looked noticeably less sparse than before

I went ahead and booked round 2 right away, scheduled for two weeks later. They explained that density gets adjusted little by little with each session, so I'm curious how it'll look next time

Aftercare after SMP treatment

• Don't wash your hair on the day of the treatment
• You can shampoo starting the next day
• Don't scratch with your nails even if it's itchy
• Use a dark-colored towel on the day of treatment
• Avoid sweaty workouts or saunas early on

I've totally gotten hooked on taking photos, still snapping pictures of myself even after getting home haha. It's only round 1 of SMP, so I'm curious how things will look different in round 2
