Italian restaurant in Gyeongju for a meal with a child: Midam Kitchen

I visited Midam Kitchen (미담키친) on Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju with my child. We chose it because there were pizza, pasta, and tonkatsu options to share, and I remember the hanok-style atmosphere and comfortable seating.

Where is Midam Kitchen, and is parking available?

The address is 33 Cheomseong-ro 49beon-gil, Gyeongju-si. Its exterior, which carries the hanok feel of Hwangridan-gil, caught my eye.

There is no dedicated parking. If you are visiting by car, it would be better to use a nearby public parking lot.

At the time of the original post, the listed hours were 10:30 AM to 9 PM. Last orders were at 8:30 PM, and it was listed as closed every Wednesday.

Are there good seats for dining with a child?

At the time of my visit, it had only been open for a short while. The interior was neat, with a wood-toned design.

It was quiet when we arrived a little early for dinner, but many guests came in by the time we left. It was not quiet throughout the visit.

The tables were arranged with a sense of separation, which made dining comfortable. I tend to find tables that are too close together uncomfortable, so I liked that aspect here.

There was also a family room that could seat up to six people. It seemed worth considering for a family meal or a meal with a larger group.

Child chairs were available, too. Since it is something I always check when out with my child, I was glad to see them.

What did we order, and how were the prices listed?

There were several Western-style dishes, including salads, pizza, pasta, and tonkatsu. They were easy to share according to our preferences, and the prices felt reasonable at the time.

We ordered quattro cheese pizza, Toowoomba pasta, and pork loin tonkatsu. The prices written in the original post were 18.9, 15.9, and 14.0, respectively. The currency unit was not separately stated.

How spicy was the Toowoomba pasta?

The plump shrimp went well with the spicy Toowoomba cream sauce. I could also taste a slight charred aroma.

The cream was thick, and pepperoncino gave it a slightly spicy finish. That kept it from becoming cloying, and it was one of my favorite dishes we ordered.

How were the pizza and tonkatsu my child ate?

The quattro cheese pizza had a rich cheese flavor, and I liked that the crust was not too thick. My child ate five slices. A staff member advised us to eat it first because it had a lot of cheese.

It was also good dipped in the honey served with it. As someone who likes gorgonzola pizza, I found the rich cheese flavor suited my taste.

The pork loin tonkatsu was thick yet tender, so it was easy for my child to eat. The sauce felt straightforward, too. We ordered all three dishes, and there was so much that we were full and had leftovers.

With child chairs and a family room, it was an easy meal for choosing dishes to eat with a child. I also thought the hanok-style setting would suit a dinner date for two.
