What was dinner with a child like after exploring Hwangridan-gil?

After looking around Hwangridan-gil during our trip to Gyeongju, we decided to have pizza for dinner because my child likes it. While looking for somewhere comfortable to eat with a child, we chose Midam Kitchen (미담키친).

We looked around Hwangridan-gil first and visited a little early for dinner. It was also close to where we were staying, so getting around after the meal was convenient.

After eating, we planned to look around the area a little more, buy late-night snacks, and return to our accommodation. That day, the route between the sights, restaurant, and accommodation worked well, which made getting around with my child much easier.

What are the hanok exterior and interior like?

The first things that caught my eye when we arrived were the hanok-style exterior and landscaping with green plants. Eating Western food such as pizza and pasta in a hanok setting was memorable, and the restaurant itself was nice to photograph.

The hanok atmosphere continued indoors. The warm lighting and tidy space felt cozy, but it was not a formal setting, so we could sit comfortably with my child.

Are there family tables and children’s tableware?

There were tables for two and four, as well as a separate room. The room looked useful for family gatherings or meals with a larger group.

We could see the Hwangridan-gil streetscape through the window, which made it enjoyable to look outside while eating.

Our table had plenty of room, which made dining with my child comfortable. I was also glad that they prepared separate tableware for my child.

What did we order, and how did it taste?

We looked over the menu at the kiosk and ordered quattro cheese pizza and Toowoomba pasta. In addition to pizza and pasta, there were risotto, salad, and donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), so I thought there would be options for different preferences in a group.

Is the Toowoomba pasta spicy?

The Toowoomba pasta contained peperoncino, so it had a mild spiciness. It started with the soft, rich flavor of the cream sauce, followed by a slight heat. For me, the spiciness cut through the richness of the cream, making the sauce easier to eat.

Did my child enjoy the quattro cheese pizza?

The quattro cheese pizza arrived first. It was warm and generously topped with cheese, with the rich, savory flavor of several cheeses. However, it was a little salty overall for my taste, so I thought it worked better with another dish than on its own.

My child normally likes pizza and ate it well. Both the pizza and pasta had generous portions, enough for our family to share.

The pasta sauce was well combined with the noodles. When I had some of the Toowoomba pasta sauce with the pizza, I felt that the cream sauce gently balanced the pizza’s saltiness, so the combination worked well for me.
