Outdoor Korean BBQ fire show with cheese in Namyangju: 2002 Witch's

In short

2002 Witch's Arpeggio is an outdoor Korean BBQ restaurant set in nature in Wabu-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi. The tomato-jang pork belly gets a tableside fire show with melted cheese, followed by potato pancake and a stone-pot fried rice loaded with pollock roe. The tomato-jang pork belly and potato pancake combo alone is worth going back for.

While looking for good restaurants in Namyangju, I found a place I knew I'd want to come back to right away — 2002 Witch's Arpeggio. Honestly, at first I just thought of it as a nice-atmosphere BBQ spot somewhere in Wabu-eup, Namyangju.

But after eating there, my whole impression changed. The tomato-jang (fermented tomato sauce) pork belly especially caught my curiosity since I'd never heard of the dish before. Bottom line: it was the most memorable thing I ate that day. And this isn't just a place to go for meat — eating outdoors surrounded by nature, plus the cheese fire show, made the whole meal genuinely fun.

A BBQ restaurant with this kind of atmosphere, in Namyangju

2002 Witch's Arpeggio is out in Wabu-eup, Namyangju. As we drove in, the surroundings suddenly shifted — it didn't feel like a BBQ place in the city, more like stepping into nature. I personally love that kind of setting, so I was already in a good mood by the time we arrived.

On a nice day, eating outdoors here is genuinely great. It's not just one table plunked outside — you get to enjoy the whole surrounding view while you eat, which explains why people looking for a Namyangju date spot love it. I went for the meat, but for a moment I felt like I was on a little trip. It's less "a BBQ restaurant in Namyangju" and more a place where you enjoy the atmosphere along with the food, which I liked even more.

The tomato-jang pork belly I was curious about

We ordered the tomato-jang pork belly. This isn't just pork belly seasoned with tomatoes thrown in — it uses an aged tomato-jang sauce. When you think "tomato," you usually think tangy first.

But when I actually tried it, it was completely different from what I expected. The tomato flavor doesn't jump out — the seasoning itself is deep and savory.

So it paired with the pork belly far better than I expected. It's definitely different from the usual gochujang pork belly — really soft and savory.

The moment the cheese goes on, everything changes

While we were eating the tomato-jang pork belly, they added cheese on top. From here on it wasn't just about taste — it was fun to watch too. They put the cheese on and finish it off with fire — that's the fire show.

When the flame shot up, I couldn't help but grab my phone. Things like this really are more fun in person. As the cheese melted and stuck to the meat, it tasted completely different from the plain tomato-jang pork belly.

The savoriness of the tomato-jang combined with the nutty, soft cheese made everything richer. If you're looking for an outdoor BBQ spot in Namyangju with something to watch as well as eat, this would suit you well. I only meant to take food photos that day, but once the fire show started I ended up filming video too.

The potato pancake you must order even if you're full

If you go here, I really want you to try the potato pancake. I mean it. We'd already filled up on pork belly, so at first we hesitated about whether to order it.

The potato pancake we ordered after some hesitation

Ah... good thing we ordered this.

But once it arrived and we tried it, that's exactly what I thought. Crispy outside, chewy inside — I kept reaching for more. This isn't your average pan-fried pancake. It's the kind of thing you'd want to take home.

So that day we said to each other, "Whenever we come here, we have to order the potato pancake, no question."

Looking at other visitor reviews, I noticed a lot of people order the potato pancake alongside the tomato-jang pork belly — and after trying it myself, I get why.

Ending with pollock roe stone-pot rice

After the meat and the potato pancake, we were already completely full. But I couldn't skip the finale, so we ordered the pollock roe stone-pot fried rice with crispy rice (nurungji) too. You just can't resist the closing fried rice at a place like this. Mixed with the leftover sauce from the meat, it worked really well too.

The closing dish: pollock roe stone-pot fried rice with crispy rice

Being in a stone pot meant there was crispy rice stuck to the bottom, which was fun to scrape off and eat. We kept saying we were full, but ended up finishing the whole course.

Just eating the food alone would be a little bit of a shame

By the time we finished the pollock roe rice, the meal felt properly complete. But adding the outdoor atmosphere on top of that made it truly memorable. On a nice day especially, it feels less like going out for BBQ and more like finding a great spot on a drive. So I think this would suit people looking for a date spot in Namyangju too — and in fact, dates and family meals make up a large share of visits here.

The Namyangju outdoor BBQ spot, worth a drive to reach

It was a great place to eat well, enjoy the surroundings, and chat slowly. It works with family, with a partner, or with friends — the atmosphere suits all of them.

If I'm looking for a good restaurant in Namyangju, I think I'd go back here. I went in the first place just curious what tomato-jang pork belly would taste like. But after eating, it wasn't just the food I remembered — it was the whole atmosphere of the day.

  • Watching the cheese fire show
  • Adding the potato pancake
  • Finishing with pollock roe stone-pot rice

Thinking about it, we really ate our way through the whole course, haha. But what stuck with me most was thinking "I need to come back again." If you're looking for a slightly special BBQ restaurant in Namyangju, want to try something other than plain pork belly, or want a good-atmosphere outdoor BBQ spot in Namyangju, this is worth a visit. If I went again, I'd order the tomato-jang pork belly and potato pancake again for sure.
