If you're looking for a Dongbaek favorite in Giheung, Yongin, you can't skip Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant. Sitting on Eondong-ro in Giheung, this place is a word-of-mouth local favorite,

and it runs both a butcher shop and a restaurant in the same space, so you get both freshness and good prices. I found it while searching for good BBQ spots around Yongin and Giheung, and the visit turned out even better than expected.
Picking cuts at the butcher counter inside Dongbaek Hanokjip
The hanok-style exterior catches your eye right away, and once you step inside, the first thing that grabs your attention is the wide meat display counter.

From 1++ hanwoo rib eye to iberico pork jowl to pork ribs, all sorts of cuts are neatly laid out, and it's genuinely fun to pick. That day I chose iberico pork jowl at ₩9,000 per 100g and 1++ hanwoo rib eye at ₩23,900 per 100g and headed to my table.

Being able to watch the weight and price get checked right there at the counter felt trustworthy, and it was great to get 1++ hanwoo of this quality at a reasonable price in Giheung. Seasoned pork ribs are also available if you order at the table, so it looked like a good spot for a group with different tastes.

Iberico pork jowl and 1++ hanwoo rib eye on the charcoal grill
As soon as we sat down, the charcoal was set up, and I appreciated how carefully the staff kept the fat from splattering on the grill.

The iberico pork jowl had that crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture without any off smell, savory with a mild umami that built up the more I chewed. The 1++ hanwoo rib eye had marbling that melted the moment it hit my mouth, and the charcoal aroma made the flavor even deeper.

Watching the table next to us order pork ribs made me think I'd like to try that too on my next visit.

Side dishes and the Hwaseong Suhyangmi rice
The side dishes that came out were neat and well made. With ssamjang-style thick soybean paste and lettuce wraps served alongside, wrapping the iberico pork jowl and 1++ hanwoo rib eye made for a clean finish without any greasiness.

What surprised me too was that the rice served turned out to be made with Hwaseong Suhyangmi rice. I once saw on YouTube that it's considered one of the best single-variety rice strains in Korea. Sure enough, the rice had great stickiness and tasted amazing.

Seating, ventilation, parking and paying for drinks at Dongbaek Hanokjip
Dongbaek Hanokjip has a spacious, pleasant interior that works just as well for group gatherings as for a date. The seats had plenty of space between them so I could eat comfortably without worrying about the next table, and the ventilation was good enough that grilling meat didn't leave much smell on my clothes.

Drinks are self-serve from the fridge, and you pay for them together with the meat at the end, which felt convenient and reasonable. Given the neighborhood, parking was also plentiful, so coming by car wasn't a hassle either.

Is Dongbaek Hanokjip worth it for BBQ in Giheung, Yongin?
If you're looking for a BBQ place in Yongin or Giheung with good value, this butcher restaurant lets you enjoy 1++ hanwoo and iberico pork jowl at prices that don't hurt, making it a must for any Dongbaek foodie list.

The fun of choosing your own cut at the meat counter, the freshness of grilling it right there over charcoal, and the spacious, comfortable interior — all three come together well here.
I'd definitely go back, and next time I'm planning to go all in and try the pork ribs too. If you're planning a hearty meal and a BBQ outing around Giheung or Yongin, I strongly recommend this Dongbaek favorite, Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant.

There are several BBQ places around, but it's rare to find one like this where you can check the cut and see the price with your own eyes right at the meat counter. Especially being able to enjoy 1++ hanwoo and iberico pork jowl with freshness on par with a department store meat counter makes it stand out even among Dongbaek favorites.

Even eating generously as two people, the price wasn't a burden, so I'd give it high marks for value too. The friendly staff, quick setup, and generous seating spacing all added to a comfortable meal from start to finish,

and overall satisfaction was high enough that I could confidently recommend it to friends. If you're trying to decide on your next meal, don't hesitate to stop by without a reservation. It was a well-rounded meal, good enough for a family gathering or work dinner too, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
