Nowon buffet lunch with crepe cake and lamb chops: Kuu Kuu
In short
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a large sushi buffet near Hagye Station in Nowon, Seoul. At weekday lunch, I tried the larger halibut and salmon sushi, lamb chops, Dippin' Dots, and especially lovely crepe cake. Verdict: a spacious, comfortable choice for family or group meals.

Today, I visited Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, a buffet that has definitely changed from before.
It is on the 6th floor at 247 Nowon-ro, Nowon-gu, Seoul, near Hagye Station. I had enjoyed another Kuu Kuu branch in the past too, but it did not feel particularly distinctive, so it had not stayed strongly in my memory. This time, though, I heard Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch had been upgraded, and people around me kept saying it was really good, so I was curious and came to see it for myself.

Maybe because it is already famous as a good restaurant in Nowon, it was really crowded even though I visited on a weekday~~!

A spacious restaurant for Nowon family gatherings
There were so many people inside that I could not take many photos, but the overall atmosphere was bright and pleasant. I heard it is a whopping 300 pyeong in size. Private rooms can be booked for around 40 to 60 people, while group seating can accommodate from 14 up to 200 people—what an enormous scale, right? It looked like a good spot for a Nowon family gathering or company dinner too. Now, let’s hurry and look at the food! Haha
What is in the salad and grill zones?
Even the salad corner had such a huge variety. I felt like I could get full just trying a bit of every salad, and I was happy to find a salad with grapefruit, which I love~~!

There was also a separate grill zone where you could try everything from webfoot octopus dishes to a range of grilled foods.

Upgraded halibut and salmon sushi
And then there was the sushi corner, which you could call Kuu Kuu’s main attraction! As expected, this was where the biggest crowd had gathered. True to its reputation as a Nowon sushi buffet, there were so, so many kinds of sushi. There were so many that I was almost sad not to try them all, but I decided to save them for my next visit~~!
I heard the halibut and salmon sushi had been upgraded this time, and the size of the fish was definitely noticeable. The toppings were so big that even one piece of sushi filled my mouth. They also use botan shrimp rather than regular shrimp, so I tried it; its distinctive shrimp flavor came through richly, and it was delicious.

There was also a live station that cooked dishes to order. They made the fish steak right away, so I could eat it warm.

The buffet desserts I especially loved
One reason I like Kuu Kuu is the desserts. Personally, they felt clearly different from the usual store-bought desserts you find at buffets. The crepe cake in particular was so soft and delicious, and I really loved that the desserts were not just overwhelmingly sweet, haha. The dessert quality was good enough that they could have sold them separately. The egg tarts were delicious too~~!

Lamb chops and Dippin' Dots even at weekday lunch
I visited for weekday lunch this time, and I heard that fresh salmon sashimi and smoked duck are available at weekday dinner and on weekends. Still, what made me happiest was that lamb chops are on the all-day menu! I loved being able to have lamb chops at lunch too. And Dippin’ Dots, which used to be served only at dinner and on weekends, are now included with weekday lunch as well. I think kids would really love it, so I could imagine lots of families coming during school holidays, haha.

Coffee machines and a draft beer event
There were several coffee machines ready, so there was no need to wait in a long line just to get a drink. I also loved the unlimited draft beer you can receive by writing a review, haha. Another special thing about the Nowon branch is that many buffets use Filite for unlimited draft beer, but I heard this one serves Terra and Kelly draft beer. Such a great deal! I brought my car that day, so sadly I had to passㅜㅜ

A satisfying visit from sushi to dessert
Overall, this was a buffet where each dish was good quality, and the sushi in particular was good enough that it was hard to think of it as simply buffet sushi. Both the variety and quality were satisfying even compared with sushi restaurants that sell individual dishes. With its bright, comfortable atmosphere, it seems like a great place for everything from family gatherings and company dinners to group meals, so if you are looking for a buffet in Nowon, I think Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is worth a visit :)
