A rainy evening with friends at Deokjane Bangatgan near Sinnonhyeon Station

I'd been hunting for good tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) near Sinnonhyeon Station, and finally made it to Deokjane Bangatgan (덕자네방앗간)! It's so famous as a Gangnam tteokbokki spot that my friends and I went in with high expectations. Whenever people talk about the best tteokbokki near Sinnonhyeon, this place always comes up, so I'd really wanted to try it!

The moment we opened the door, I was won over by the warm, lively atmosphere! I knew right away we'd come to the right place!

We ordered the signature garaetteok tteokbokki, and one bite explained why everyone raves about it! The chewy, plump rice cakes had such a satisfying bite, haha.

The rice cakes felt freshly made, and they blended beautifully with the spicy-sweet sauce for deep savory flavor. The sauce hit a perfect balance — not too spicy, not too sweet — and once you start you can't stop! This was the real deal for garaetteok tteokbokki, haha!

The chewy fish cakes, soft boiled egg, and crisp scallions inside the tteokbokki were all fresh and high quality! I was genuinely touched by the care that went into it! The assorted fried snacks and chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) on the side were also standout treats!

Dipping the crispy fried snacks into the spicy tteokbokki sauce was an absolutely perfect combination! The side dishes rounded everything out nicely!

The interior was clean yet cozy and welcoming! The tables had generous spacing, so it was comfortable to eat! Even while busy, the staff were friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better!

I can confidently recommend Deokjane Bangatgan as more than just a good tteokbokki spot near Sinnonhyeon — it's one of Gangnam's best. Next time I'm in Sinnonhyeon, I'll come straight back here without a second thought! It was such a happy meal!

The ramyeon (instant noodle soup) with its warm broth caught my eye first! It was loaded with sliced scallions, carrots, and a soft egg! Fresh off the stove and still steaming, it looked truly delicious!

The curly noodles held onto the broth well, giving each bite deep flavor! The spicy yet clean broth flavor seemed like it would pair perfectly with the tteokbokki! It was a hearty enough portion to count as a full meal on its own! On a rainy day, this was exactly the dish to warm you up!

The spicy ramyeon also arrived giving off steam! It was loaded with springy noodles, sliced scallions, and soft egg! The spicy yet clean broth really seemed to clear your head! Having these tasty side dishes alongside the main garaetteok tteokbokki made me even more excited!

A golden-brown hot dog, looking freshly fried, sat on the plate! Just looking at that golden crust got me excited for the crispy texture! Squeezing on bright red ketchup in even lines made it look even more appetizing with the vivid pop of color!

It's great dipped in the spicy tteokbokki sauce, but this sweet-and-tangy ketchup combo is not to be missed either! One bite and the sausage's juicy pop with the savory batter coating seemed like it would be excellent! The yellow pickled radish served alongside added a tangy note that kept it from feeling too heavy!
