My husband and I were looking for a good cutlet place in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong for lunch, and got curious about this spot with 600 reviews and a 4.8 rating haha. We went half-expecting, half-curious, and ended up eating pretty well. Here's my honest take on what we actually experienced!

The green sign stood out even from a distance, and it wasn't hard to find — it stood out among the other Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong restaurants too. There's no separate break time, so we went at an in-between hour, and maybe because of that there weren't many customers, so we could look around at ease.

Wood interior with sofa-table seats — the inside atmosphere

The interior has a wood design, so overall it felt cozy and comfortable.

There were quite a lot of tables, plus sofa-table seats, so we sat comfortably at a sofa-table.

There were baby chairs too, so families with kids could probably use the place comfortably.

Menu lineup and what we ordered

You order via the table tablet, and the menu had a good variety — soba, cutlets, rice bowls, and sides.

We ordered toowoomba soba ₩12,900, cream demi cutlet ₩12,900, and a Pepsi Zero ₩2,000.

Signage explaining the demi-glace sauce

While waiting, I read the menu explanation posters plastered around the store: the toowoomba sauce is soft cream with the depth of smoked paprika added, and the demi-glace sauce has a European-style umami from beef bone stock, tomato and herbs. There was also a note that the toowoomba demi-glace cutlet is made with pork aged 48 hours at low temperature, which raised my expectations even more :) And apparently the fresh noodles took 3 years of research to perfect.

How was the toowoomba soba?

Toowoomba soba and cutlet served on individual trays

Both dishes came out beautifully arranged on individual trays.

The toowoomba soba tray came fully loaded with kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), jalapeños, salad, and soup,

and on top of the sauce sat egg yolk, bacon, shrimp and mushroom evenly spread out, all dusted generously with paprika powder — it looked delicious from the start.

I popped the yolk first and mixed it into the sauce and fresh noodles — the spicy flavor and the soft cream blended perfectly instead of fighting each other. The savoriness was incredible haha. It was savory without being greasy, and the smoky paprika flavor lingered gently all the way through!!

A bite of shrimp and pork belly bacon with the noodles

I took a bite of bacon and shrimp together with noodles — the plump shrimp had a springy pop, while the thick pork belly bacon had a noticeably chewier texture. Adding jalapeño really brought out the spiciness, perfect for cutting the richness. That right there was proof it's a genuinely good restaurant.

How was the cream demi cutlet?

The cream demi cutlet came with the same side dishes plus white rice,

and the demi-glace sauce was poured generously over the thick cutlet — the moment you cut into it, the sauce ran down the meat. The batter wasn't thick, so it ate light without feeling greasy, and the meat itself was thick enough to have a satisfying chew.

Dipping generously into the sauce brought out a rich, deep flavor — probably because it's based on beef bone stock, the umami lingered for a long time!

Piling the salad onto the rice and mixing it with the sauce made a great combo in every bite :) After trying both, my personal top pick was the toowoomba soba. It's a flavor I kept thinking about — that balance of spice and cream, haha. I got why it's known as a top cutlet spot in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong, and a top cutlet restaurant in Gwangmyeong overall.

We added barley rice and mixed it into the leftover toowoomba sauce — the thick sauce soaked right into the grains, and my spoon just kept going back. I couldn't stop, haha.
