Why we chose a Chinese restaurant for a Haeundae meal with our child

We were looking for a place to eat with our kid and ended up at this Chinese restaurant in Haeundae!

Choosing a menu when eating out with a child is always a bit of a puzzle, but jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles) is something kids eat happily, and there's plenty of variety for adults too, so we decided on Chinese food for a change.

Where to park at Bueokgan Chinese: use the building lot, not the street

If you're heading to Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, make sure to use the building parking lot. I thought street parking was fine but got ticketed for it ㅠㅠㅠ The building offers 1:30 minutes of parking support, so please park there!!!

This place turned out to be a good option for anyone looking for a Haeundae restaurant to visit comfortably with family. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered jajangmyeon, fried rice, and fried dumplings.

Jajangmyeon at Bueokgan Chinese: a rich, thick black bean sauce

Bueokgan Chinese's jajangmyeon looked delicious the moment it arrived — the sauce was really thick and rich-looking. Mixing it thoroughly into the noodles, I could taste that deep, distinctive jajang flavor. With cucumber and egg on top, it looked appetizing too, and it's a menu item that's easy for kids to eat without feeling heavy — jajangmyeon really is unbeatable as a family meal choice.

The surprise hit: cucumber muchim

Surprisingly, the dish I kept reaching for was the cucumber muchim (seasoned cucumber salad). The cucumbers were cut in big chunks and loaded with onion and sesame seeds — the crunchy texture with the tangy-spicy seasoning paired really well with the Chinese dishes. After a bite of the rich jajangmyeon or fried rice, a bite of cucumber muchim refreshed my palate, so I kept going back for more.

Personally, the fried rice was my favorite!

The rice grains weren't mushy or clumped together — they were nicely fried and fluffy, with green onion and egg well mixed in. It was tasty enough on its own, but mixing in the generous serving of jajang sauce on the side gave it a whole different flavor.

Soup comes with the fried rice too, and taking a spoonful here and there went well with the meal. Since the jajang sauce was so rich, pairing it with warm soup felt like it cleansed the palate each time!

And you can't skip fried dumplings at a Chinese restaurant.

The dumplings came out golden and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside — delicious while still hot. Eating them with the onion served alongside cut the greasiness, and they were great to pick at one by one between bites of jajangmyeon or fried rice, haha.

What made Bueokgan Chinese good for sharing as a family

Ordering several dishes to share let us taste a bit of everything, which was more satisfying, and it was nice having menu items our kid could eat too. From jajangmyeon to fried rice to fried dumplings, the basic Chinese menu items were all solidly good overall, making it a fine choice for a family meal.

What I liked most was that it wasn't just one standout dish — the whole combination worked well when we ordered several items together. The jajangmyeon was hearty thanks to its rich sauce, and the fried rice's fluffy texture went great mixed with the jajang sauce. Add in the crispy fried dumplings and crunchy cucumber muchim, and each dish had a different texture and flavor, so we never got tired of eating. Especially when visiting with a kid, it can be hard to choose a restaurant that satisfies both adult and kid tastes, so having kid-friendly options like jajangmyeon or fried rice was a real plus. The portions weren't skimpy either, so ordering a variety was great for sharing as a family.
