Hwaseong Korean restaurant for an 11:30am opening-run lunch: Yangpuni
In short
Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a Korean restaurant near Dongtan Central Park in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Arriving at 11:30am, the writer watched the place fill up completely within 10 minutes and shared a two-person kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) set with added tofu and ramyeon noodles, a palm-topping egg roll, a brimming basin of stew, and self-serve banchan mixed with seasoned laver flakes. For two people, the set alone was more than enough — a real value lunch.

What's going on with this morning's temperature? It was so cool it caught me off guard. Fall is really coming now, haha!!
This weekend's food post is a hearty Korean meal review. I'd been craving spicy kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) like crazy for a few days now. With the temperature dropping too, it was the perfect time for something hot. Let me introduce Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae, located near Dongtan Central Park.

Parking fits about 4 cars in front of the restaurant. I'd recommend an opening run on weekends since it fills up fast — lunch peak was packed with customers.

Drawn in by the exterior's confident, well-loved look, we headed inside. A quick look at Yangpuni's promises: ✔️Domestic Korean kimchi ✔️All menu items use Grade 1 domestic Korean pork ✔️Delivered and used the same day ✔️Fresh vegetables ✔️Gyeongsang-do style duruchigi

Went in at 11:30, fully booked in 10 minutes
We got in around 11:30 and there were already other customers.

Ten minutes later, this was the scene. Completely full in no time. Confirmed local favorite 👏👏

One side had a long row of tables, which looked great for groups or gatherings who wanted some privacy.

The individually wrapped spoon-and-chopstick sets looked hygienic too, which I really appreciated for cleanliness. Nice touch 👍

Menu and what we ordered
This place's signature dish is kimchi jjigae. You can order it as a single item, but the value set with an egg roll seemed to be the popular choice. Besides kimchi jjigae, the menu also has pork belly kimchi jjim, duruchigi, jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), soy-marinated bulgogi, and a seasonal naengmyeon (cold noodles). We'd been craving kimchi jjigae before we even left the house, so we went with the value set.
- Kimchi jjigae set (2 people) 26.0
- Tofu add-on 2.5
- Ramyeon noodle add-on 1.0

More banchan at the self-serve zone
These are just the basic side dishes — and that wasn't even all of it.
There's a self-serve zone with even more banchan, so you can grab whatever suits your taste.

A palm-topping egg roll — see the hand comparison shot
First up was the egg roll included in the value set, and I was shocked by the size. It was seriously huge. Photos don't do it justice, so here's a hand comparison shot. I honestly have no idea how many eggs went into this, haha.

The egg roll wasn't just thick — it was fluffy and perfectly cooked all the way through, like it was made by an egg roll master, haha. Honestly, it was really good.

A two-person kimchi jjigae that fills the whole basin
Whoa — the kimchi jjigae came out in what looked like a giant basin. It was labeled as two servings but felt more like three, and this place seems to go big on portions across the board. I don't think I've ever seen such great value.

If you're coming as a pair, definitely get this two-person value set. Great value for money, and the portion is honestly ridiculous.

The pork looked amazing too — this domestic pork satisfies both in quantity and quality.
It comes out in big chunks that you can cut up as you eat, and there were about 4 large pieces. The pork isn't skimped on at all.
With the tofu add-on, the kimchi jjigae came out looking extra hearty. There was a generous amount of tofu too — soft and nutty, I kept reaching for more.
The kimchi jjigae wasn't overly salty, which actually made it easy to enjoy without being too intense for anyone. The pork had no gamey smell at all and was tender, so it seemed like something kids would enjoy too.

The finale: laver-flake bibim rice and ramyeon noodles
The seasoned laver flakes that come as a basic side dish turned out to be a surprisingly good combo mixed into rice with kimchi jjigae stirred in — a tasty little specialty in its own right.

Time for the grand finale. They boiled up the ramyeon noodle add-on until the broth thickened nicely.

With such a deep stew base, the ramyeon noodles disappeared in no time.

To sum up
Located in the easily accessible Central Park area, Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae serves up kimchi jjigae made with domestic Korean kimchi and a massive egg roll in a great-value set, plus a range of other menu items like Gyeongsang-do style jeyuk bokkeum and samgyeopsal, making it perfect for a special lunch or dinner. With space for group parties, I'd recommend it for family outings, dates, or gatherings too. The staff were friendly as well, so this felt like a place I'd want to become a regular at. Saving this one to visit again!
