Did you know there's an unlimited refill jjukkumi (spicy webfoot octopus) spot in Duam-dong, Gwangju?? I visited once earlier this year and went back again recently, so I'm bringing you my full review of Sin Jjukkumi in Duam-dong!
This place already had a strong word-of-mouth reputation among octopus lovers, and this time I went in person to dig into everything — taste, atmosphere, and the self-bar setup, all in detail! Since this is a first-hand review, I'll be picking out only the info that's genuinely useful for anyone planning to visit, told honestly.
Especially since the alleys around Duam-dong are narrow and parking is a real headache zone, you were probably worried before visiting. I found some solid parking tips on-site, so stick with me to the end!

The exterior

Interior atmosphere and cleanliness — good for a group dinner?

The interior overall was spacious and kept clean and well-managed. The table spacing was generous too, so there was no cramped feeling at all. In particular, the wide table seating made it a perfect spot for group dinners for companies in Buk-gu Duam-dong, and it would also work great for family gatherings! As it got closer to evening, I saw quite a lot of groups coming in for dinners and gatherings.
What's in the unlimited refill self-bar?
As shown in the photo above, there's a self-serve corner set up.

First, the thin-sliced pork belly and regular pork belly were arranged on the far right. Even though it's an unlimited refill place, I really thought the meat quality was good.
On the left there's mayonnaise, seasoning sauces, and utensils all set up!

Perilla leaves, pickled radish for wraps, bean sprouts, vegetables, garlic, canned corn, and more were all well stocked, so it was great being able to eat as much as I wanted!

With the jjukkumi (spicy octopus) and meat laid out like this, you just scoop as much as you want first and bring it back to your table!

How much does it cost?
This combo — spicy octopus + fresh pork belly + thin-sliced pork belly — costs ₩23,500. As you all know, the charm of jjukkumi-sam (octopus and pork belly combo) is being able to eat as much as you want, so ₩23,500 felt like a price worth going for.

How to grill the octopus without burning the sauce
As shown in the photo above, you put pork belly OR thin-sliced pork belly on one side of the pan, and the octopus on the other. Something I realized on my most recent visit — if you only grill the octopus by itself, the sauce burns a lot as it boils! If you put the thin-sliced pork belly next to the octopus, the fat drips down and burns a bit less, and the important thing is you need to keep skimming the foam off the octopus sauce as you go! Definitely keep this in mind if you're planning to visit~

Finish it off with flying fish roe fried rice
Lastly, the fried rice! Flying fish roe fried rice comes out separately, and if you stir-fry it together with the pre-grilled pork belly and octopus, it becomes an absolutely amazing fried rice — savory and spicy at the same time!
I didn't used to be a big fan of the octopus-and-pork-belly menu, but Duam-dong's Sin Jjukkumi isn't too spicy and you can eat plenty of meat, so whenever I do crave it, I end up coming here haha.
Having visited in person, I really understood why everyone goes to Sin Jjukkumi in Duam-dong! Addictively spicy sauce, plump octopus, and a solid unlimited refill setup where you help yourself as much as you like — nothing was missing.
If you're looking for a restaurant, bar, or place to eat in Buk-gu Duam-dong with family, friends, or coworkers, or a spacious group dinner spot in Buk-gu Duam-dong where everyone can enjoy themselves together, I'd highly recommend this place!
