Weekend date BBQ with dual grill and minari in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan

In short

Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, that smokes pork over rice husk and charcoal. On a weekend evening, the writer and her boyfriend ordered two servings of pork belly, one of pork neck, and cold noodles, grilled entirely by staff on a dual grill plate that separates meat from kimchi and minari (water dropwort), which came generously included at no extra charge. With staff doing the grilling, conversation flowed freely, making it a solid pick for both a date night and a company dinner.

Pork belly on the grill at Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch

My boyfriend and I suddenly got a huge craving for pork belly one weekend, so we went to Cham Dwaejitgan in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan :) At most BBQ places I've been to, I end up so busy grilling the meat that I can't really focus on conversation, but here they have a grilling service where staff cook it for you, so we could eat comfortably.

Who I'd recommend this to, and who I wouldn't

❗️Recommended for:

  • People who want to enjoy meat without grilling it themselves
  • People looking for a clean, upscale BBQ restaurant in Dujeong-dong
  • People looking for a company dinner spot in Dujeong-dong
  • People who love pork belly with minari
  • People looking for a nice-atmosphere BBQ spot for a weekend date

❗️Not recommended for:

  • People who prefer a rustic, homey BBQ atmosphere
  • People who enjoy the fun of grilling meat themselves

Now let me share my actual review!

Location, parking, and restroom

Modern exterior of Cham Dwaejitgan in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan

📍Location: 10 Wondujeong 5-gil, 101ho, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea

Cham Dwaejitgan is located in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, so it was easy to visit when looking for a BBQ place there. I went on the weekend with my boyfriend, and the exterior was clean and modern right from the start, giving off a different vibe than a typical BBQ restaurant.

🅿️Parking — You can park in front of the restaurant, but it's more convenient to call ahead before visiting.

Parking space and entrance in front of the restaurant

There's also a separate women's restroom inside, and it was really clean when I used it. Some BBQ restaurants can be a bit disappointing on restrooms, so I appreciated that they paid attention to this detail too.

Upscale interior

Walking into Cham Dwaejitgan, I felt a clean, upscale atmosphere rather than the usual rustic BBQ vibe. The tables had a marble-like finish and the chairs were comfortable, making it a good place to sit and eat for a long time.

In the past, some pork belly places left the smell in my clothes or felt a bit stuffy inside, but this place was clean and comfortable overall, so I'd highly recommend it for a date.

Meat smoked over rice husk and charcoal

Smoking grill lined with rice husk and charcoal

What impressed me most at Cham Dwaejitgan was the rice husk and charcoal used as standard. The grill had both rice husk and charcoal laid together, and they said it's a smoking method using premium charcoal plus domestic rice husk.

When I actually ate the grilled meat, I barely noticed any gamey smell, and there was a subtle smoky aroma that made it feel a bit different from regular pork belly.

Grill plate with separate sections for meat and kimchi/minari

A grill that separates meat from minari

And what I really loved was that the grill plate itself was unique! There was a space for grilling the meat and, below it, a separate space for grilling kimchi and minari (water dropwort). Being able to grill the meat and the side ingredients separately meant the meat stayed a bit cleaner to eat.

I'm especially a minari lover, so I was so happy that a generous amount came included as standard haha. Many BBQ places make you order minari as an extra, but here the standard portion was more than enough, so I got to eat it freely with the meat.

Staff-grilled service

Above all, there was a grilling service, so staff grilled the meat for us directly. My boyfriend and I visited as a couple, and it was so nice to be able to keep chatting without worrying about grilling the meat.

At company dinners, someone usually ends up being the designated griller, but here staff do the grilling, so it seemed like it would work great as a company dinner spot in Dujeong-dong too. For company dinners, a place that grills for you is truly the best!!

Menu and what we ordered

Cham Dwaejitgan is a great pick when you're craving pork belly in Dujeong. They have both regular pork belly and black pork belly on the menu, so if you enjoy the chewier texture of black pork, it might be worth trying at least once :)

Ordered two servings of pork belly and one serving of pork neck

We ordered two servings of pork belly and one serving of pork neck. The pork belly had a nice thickness and a good ratio of fat to lean meat.

Thickly grilled pork belly

The pork belly was thick and high quality, so from the first bite, savory juices burst out. It wasn't just greasy pork belly — I could taste both the savory flavor and the juiciness together.

Pork neck cooking on the grill

The pork neck was leaner than the pork belly but had just enough fat that it wasn't dry. Ordering both together let us alternate between the richness of the pork belly and the lighter pork neck.

A bowl of mul-naengmyeon with ice slush

Finishing with icy cold noodles

We also ordered mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for dessert, and it had floating ice slush, which was perfect for finishing off the meal. Sometimes when I order mul-naengmyeon, it tastes bland even after adding vinegar and mustard, but here the base seasoning was strong enough that I didn't need to add much. The noodles were also chewy, so if you're deciding on a food menu, I recommend the naengmyeon! It felt like it refreshed my palate after the meat, and was satisfying right to the end.

Potato wraps grilled in meat fat

Having staff grill the meat was convenient, but personally, what stuck with me most was the potato wraps. Thinly sliced potatoes are grilled in the meat's fat, and wrapping them with the meat added a crisp yet savory texture that went surprisingly well together.

At first I wondered why the potatoes were sliced so thin, but once I ate them with the meat, it made total sense haha. There was also more than I expected, so I could keep enjoying them throughout the meal. I usually only wrap meat in lettuce or perilla leaves at BBQ places, so the potato wraps were a memorable, different combination.

A wrap of pork belly with minari and potato

The pork belly itself was delicious, thick, and subtly smoky, but eating it together with the minari and potato made it even better — the same meat could be enjoyed in so many different combinations. So for anyone looking for a great pork belly restaurant in Cheonan, I'd recommend this place not just for good meat, but for a place where you can enjoy a variety of side dishes too!

The clean atmosphere also made it a good choice for a date, and with the grilling service, it seemed like it would suit anyone looking for a well-loved BBQ restaurant in Dujeong-dong. If you visit in the evening, the atmosphere is also great for having a drink with your meat, so it's worth checking out if you're looking for a pork belly bar in Dujeong-dong.

Final review

Weekend evening pork belly spread at Cham Dwaejitgan

I visited this time with my boyfriend on the weekend, and what I liked most was being able to eat pork belly while chatting comfortably together. The smoking method using rice husk and charcoal in particular gave the meat a subtle aroma, and I could eat it cleanly without any gamey smell.

I also thought it was thoughtful that the grill had separate sections for the meat alone and for grilling kimchi and minari. And since I love minari, I was really happy that the standard portion was generous enough haha.

After eating pork belly with potato wraps on the side, and finishing with the icy mul-naengmyeon, it felt like a proper weekend evening meal. The interior was clean and upscale, which was great for a date, and with the staff grilling service, it also seemed like a good spot for a company dinner with a group.

If you're looking for a clean pork belly restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, I'd recommend Cham Dwaejitgan :) Especially if you find grilling meat a hassle, you'll probably be even more satisfied being able to eat while chatting comfortably here!
