Seafood stew restaurant near Bucheon Station adds octopus: Haemul
In short
Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch is a seafood restaurant near Bucheon Station in Gyeonggi serving monkfish stew, mixed seafood stew, and algoni-jjim (fish roe and milt stew). A couple ordered the hot stone algoni-jjim set and added a whole octopus for ₩5,000 through a Naver receipt review event, and wrapping the roe, milt, bean sprouts, and minari in the accompanying rice cracker turned out to be the highlight. It's a solid pick for a spicy seafood dinner date with a beer.

I was craving something spicy and seafood-y today, so my husband and I headed to Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch (해물특별시 부천역본점).
Eating out with the kids is nice too, but this was our first dinner date just the two of us in a while ❤️ I was looking for restaurants near Bucheon Station and found this place, which had everything from monkfish stew to mixed seafood stew to algoni-jjim (roe and milt stew), so we went.
We ordered the hot stone algoni-jjim set and joined the review event, which got us a whole octopus added on top — so we ended up eating pretty generously. The combo of wrapping the algoni-jjim in the rice cracker that came with it was especially memorable, so I'll share that below too.

If you're driving, keep in mind the restaurant and parking lot have different addresses. Park at the Sangnok Free Zone Building parking lot, eat your meal, then give the last 4 digits of your license plate to staff for 2 hours of free parking. Parking near Bucheon Station can be a hassle, so having this support was really convenient.
What's the vibe like inside?

Walking in, the atmosphere was a bit different from what I expected of a typical monkfish stew restaurant. The dark interior with red lighting and neon signs made it feel like a good spot for spicy seafood and a drink in the evening.

It seemed like a great fit for a couple's dinner date like ours, but also for drinks with friends, family gatherings, or group meetups. If you're looking for a bar near Bucheon Station where you can also eat plenty of hearty food, this would work well too.
Ordering is easy with the tablet

You order right from your seat using the tablet. There was a wide range of seafood dishes — hot stone monkfish stew, seafood monkfish stew, algoni-jjim — plus a mini monkfish stew sized for 1-2 people that you can choose depending on your group size. You can also add toppings like octopus, whole squid, or beef brisket, and there were plenty of side dishes like steamed egg, corn cheese, and fried rice.

What we picked that day was the hot stone algoni-jjim set. We both love roe and milt, so we went straight for this one haha.
Joining the review event and adding a whole octopus

The restaurant was also running a Naver receipt review event. We joined in, and scored a whole octopus for ₩5,000 haha. I was already looking forward to the algoni-jjim on its own, but adding octopus on top made things even more exciting before the main dish even arrived. The event details can change, so double-check at the restaurant when you visit.
Starting with the basic side dishes

First, seaweed soup, white kimchi, potato salad and other basic side dishes were set out. They were the kind of banchan that pair well with spicy stew.

Steamed egg also came out, and taking a bite here and there between mouthfuls of spicy food worked really well. Then, the main dish we'd been waiting for finally arrived!
A hot stone piled high with algoni-jjim

The first thing that came out of my mouth when it arrived was, "Wow, that's a lot." A big hot stone plate loaded with roe, milt, bean sprouts, and minari, plus the whole octopus we'd added from the review event on top — it looked amazing.

Having the whole octopus in there made it a pretty generous dinner for two. Being on a hot stone plate also meant we could enjoy it warm the whole time we were eating, which was nice.
We picked at the roe and milt too, and the crisp bean sprouts and fragrant minari went really well with the spicy sauce. There was also fun in alternating between the pop of the roe and the soft texture of the milt. If you like spicy seafood, I'd say algoni-jjim is worth trying alongside the more classic Bucheon monkfish stew.
The rice cracker wrap my husband discovered — this is delicious!

Something I didn't expect to love that day was this rice cracker that came with the meal. At first I just ate it on its own, but my husband, who overthinks food more than anyone, suddenly said, "This would be good wrapped around the algoni-jjim." Haha, so we tried it right away.

We piled the roe, milt, bean sprouts, and minari onto the rice cracker and took a bite. Wow, it was seriously so good. The rice cracker wrapping the spicy algoni-jjim added a whole different texture, and it tasted completely different from eating it plain.
If you're having the hot stone algoni-jjim at Haemul Teukbyeolsi, I highly recommend piling the stew onto the rice cracker and wrapping it up once it arrives.
A cold beer with spicy seafood stew

And you can't skip beer in front of food like this haha. A bite of the spicy algoni-jjim followed by a cold sip of beer was a perfect match. Without the kids for once, my husband and I sat and talked about this and that over delicious food, taking our time through the evening.
Final thoughts

The hot stone algoni-jjim we tried this time was a satisfying dish for us, since we both love roe and milt. Adding a whole octopus through the review event made it even more generous, and wrapping the algoni-jjim in the rice cracker is something I'll remember.
With such a wide menu, it seems like a great spot whether you're dining as a couple or drinking with a group over seafood dishes. If you're near Bucheon Station and craving spicy seafood like monkfish stew or algoni-jjim, give Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch a try. We had a lovely dinner date, enjoying good food with my husband after a while ❤️
