Jungangno Station pasta restaurant with a 14,900 won set: Plate
In short
Plate is a fresh-noodle pasta restaurant tucked into an alley in Sunhwa-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, about a 5-minute walk from Jungangno Station. The 14,900 won pasta set adds salad, bread and soup to one pasta, and Plate's bacon cacio e pepe with No. 6 piche noodles and white vongole with No. 3 ink spaghetti both had the chewy, springy bite only fresh noodles give. Being able to pick your own noodle makes Plate an easy recommendation for noodle lovers in Daejeon.

This time I visited Plate, famous as a fresh-noodle pasta spot in Daejeon!! My schedule was pretty hectic but hey, since I was in Daejeon I had to eat something good, right? haha The noodles were so springy and chewy ?! It was a no-regrets Daejeon restaurant so I'm writing this with full confidence 🫶🏻

Where is Plate in Sunhwa-dong, and where do you park?
Plate is at 30 Jungang-ro 121beon-gil, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Daejeon, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Jungangno Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:30.
As for parking, the restaurant doesn't have its own lot, so you can use Sunhwa-dong Public Parking Lot No. 2. It's only a 1–2 minute walk so it wasn't much of an inconvenience. It's free on weekends and holidays, so keep that in mind!

If you turn into the alley, it shows up right away! Plate also takes reservations through Catch Table, which was nice.
What is Plate like inside?
The inside of Plate has a tidy black interior, giving off a great mood for a wine-and-date kind of evening!
The atmosphere is quiet, not loud, so it seemed like it would work really well as a date spot too.

What comes in Plate's pasta set, and how do you pick a noodle?
Looking at the menu, I noticed they had a pasta set. It comes with salad, bread, and soup along with the pasta, and apparently it's about 20% cheaper than ordering everything separately!
What was unique was that you can pick your own noodle type. There are 6 kinds of fresh noodles and 6 kinds of dried noodles too haha. Daejeon is known as a flour city, right,, and I feel like I really found the right spot. Each menu item comes with a recommended noodle number, so it wasn't hard to choose!!

Once you order, they bring you cutlery and pickles.

While waiting for the food, I went to wash my hands and checked out the restroom too — it was nice that there's a restroom inside the restaurant haha. There was even mouthwash inside the restroom.
Plate's 14,900 won set: the salad, bread and soup course
Plate pasta set, ₩14,900

The starter course came out pretty quickly without much waiting, which I loved,,haha If you're like us and want to try a bunch of things, I highly recommend the set menu!!!
We also had the bushman bread, which reminded me of Outback ~
And ate the warm soup topped with granola too.

Plus, the salad had really fresh vegetables and was the perfect appetizer before the pasta.
How was Plate's bacon cacio e pepe with No. 6 piche noodles?
Pasta set White vongole (ink spaghetti) Bacon cacio e pepe (piche)

What we ordered was bacon cacio e pepe and white vongole. The black noodles are the white vongole and the white noodles are the cacio e pepe.
I ordered the cacio e pepe with the recommended No. 6 piche noodle. Since it's dough made only from water and flour, it was thick just like the description said, but the chewy, springy, firm texture..! You really have to try it yourself.
My friend kept insisting I should add more pepper, nagging away at me, and when I sprinkled on more it really was more delicious!!! 😳🫶🏻 (Actually my friend had already been here before,,) With the pepper aroma coming through strongly, it was a pasta where you could really feel the noodle's texture 🥹

White vongole with No. 3 ink spaghetti at Plate
For the vongole, I ordered with the recommended No. 3 ink spaghetti! I figured the clams in the vongole would pair well with the ink noodles, so I waited excitedly, and the moment it arrived, the vongole pasta smell was absolutely lethal 😇❤️
These noodles were also chewy like fresh noodles should be, and the savory flavor blended beautifully with the clams!! Totally recommend it.

The scallops were also so good hahaha

Is Plate in Daejeon worth a visit?
If you love noodles, this is a Daejeon restaurant you absolutely have to visit when you're in town!! I hope you'll enjoy the set menu too, since it's such a generous combo at a price that doesn't feel like a splurge. I highly recommend Plate in Daejeon, which made me fall in love with the charm of fresh noodles >< !!
