Did you know there's a restaurant near Sungsimdang that's hot as a date spot? Today I want to introduce Plate in Sunhwa-dong, one of the pasta restaurants in Daejeon. I'll leave an honest review, so stick with me until the end haha 😁

Plate, well known for pasta in Daejeon, is in Sunhwa-dong, tucked in from Jungang-ro Station. As a date spot near Sungsimdang, it had pretty good accessibility.

It opens around 10 or so, and since it's on Catch Table you can book easily. If you're looking for an evening date course, it's worth a visit ❗

Inside Plate in Sunhwa-dong

Inside, Plate is medium-sized with about 5 tables. Empty wine bottles lined up by the entrance and a notebook full of visitor reviews made it obvious right away that this place is popular.

And it's special because they make fresh pasta noodles themselves and you can also try potato gnocchi. It's easy to find even tucked into Sunhwa-dong, and the accessibility made it perfect as an atmospheric hot spot 👀

The menu offered a variety of pasta, steak, gnocchi and more, with plenty of side dish options too ❗

👀 You can pick your own pasta noodle to your taste, and there's a review event too, so it felt reasonable overall. By the way, they give ₩1,000 off if you pay cash for orders over ₩30,000 — worth keeping in mind when picking a date spot.

1) Basic setting

I ordered the steak set, and as soon as I did, pickles, salad, soup, and bread came out 🥰 Something light to eat before the main dish arrived. The overall composition and setting felt clean.

2) Steak set ₩37,900 (white vongole + spinach noodles)

For the steak set, you can choose your steak from fanchal (skirt), kkotdeungsim (ribeye), tenderloin, or pork ribs.

The fanchal I chose out of the four options was thick and had a clearly grilled feel. They also served it with napa cabbage and sauce to go alongside it.

The juiciness was still alive, and the savory, deep flavor was impressive — really excellent.

Next, I ordered the white vongole with spinach noodles, and it came out quickly.

📍 The white vongole, one of the signature dishes, had the refreshing, spicy-tangy kick of clams added, and it really suited my personal taste. If I come back, I think I'll order the white vongole again.

Final thoughts

Plate, well known as a Daejeon pasta restaurant, has good accessibility being near Sungsimdang. The price was reasonable and the composition was solid, making it perfect for a date spot. The interior is also clean and atmospheric, so it's comfortable to use ❗

The fresh-made pasta and the steak full of juices were excellent, so I think I'll be back again soon. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting high-quality food, anyone looking for a date spot in Sunhwa-dong, Daejeon, or anyone who wants a reasonably priced meal 😍
