Bar in Daehwa-dong, Daejeon for a quiet second-round drink: Kkeut
In short
Kkeut Daehwa-dong Main Branch is a bar and gastropub in Daehwa-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, known for dim lighting and generously spaced tables that make it a good spot for a quiet drink. Ordered as a second-round stop after dinner, four glasses of draft beer (500ml) and the tuna cracker platter arrived beautifully plated with crackers, cheese and fruit — far prettier than expected. If you're looking for somewhere in Daehwa-dong to drink with atmosphere rather than noise, Kkeut fits well.

Back in my 20s, whenever I felt like a beer, Kkeut was the Daehwa-dong bar I used to go to all the time. It got its name (끝, meaning "the end") because it sat at the very end of the alley near the student cultural center — but when I went looking for it this time, the location had changed.

We'd had our first round nearby, and Kkeut turned out to be right across the street — haha.

What's the atmosphere like inside?

Once inside, it's dark and cozy. The space isn't too big or too small, and the tables are spaced generously apart. The dim lighting paired with the calm mood made it feel like a good place for a drink.

I love this kind of atmosphere, so back when I was looking for my go-to bar in Daehwa-dong, I came to Kkeut often for its ten tables — haha. Dim lighting, candles on the tables, haha. Now even those ten tables are gone... a bar full of memories, sigh.
What did we order?

Since this was our second round, we wanted something light. There's a huge menu — hot pot, boiled pork, pasta, cheese dishes, fried dishes, fruit dishes and more. From the reviews, the braised beef shank seems popular too. But since we'd already eaten at the first place, we skipped the heavier dishes and ordered the tuna cracker platter.

Four glasses of 500ml draft beer came out first! And the nostalgic chicken-leg-shaped crackers came as a complimentary snack. Good to munch on while waiting for the ordered dish. If you're looking for somewhere in Daehwa-dong that's more atmospheric than bright and crowded, this seemed like a solid choice.

Tuna cracker platter, ₩24,000 — is it worth it?
The plating came out way prettier than I expected, which I loved. I'd thought, "₩24,000 for a tuna cracker platter?" but seeing it, it's absolutely worth the price. At Kkeut in Daehwa-dong, the owner makes every dish and serves it alone — that can't be easy, so I was impressed by the quality of the food. It made me want to come back for the first round next time and try other dishes too.

It comes on a wooden platter with various types of crackers, cheese, fruit and salad all arranged together — it looked delicious just to look at. Exactly the kind of dish I'd been craving. It's the kind of menu that lifts your mood on sight and photographs well too. This tuna cracker platter would go perfectly with wine, beer, or a highball.

In particular, there were several types of crackers, so it was fun picking whichever suited your taste.

Piling the tuna and toppings on the crackers, the crunchy texture and the soft tuna paired really well. The tuna was tossed in seasoning or sauce too, so it tasted amazing. Being able to add cheese and fruit alongside meant you got more variety than a single flavor. Best of all, everything was bite-sized, so it was easy to pick up piece by piece while drinking. It suited the mood of sitting with a dish in front of you, chatting slowly.

It's the kind of dish that's great to pick at piece by piece over a drink, so it was good for talking slowly over food too. If you're looking for a quiet, atmospheric place to drink in Daehwa-dong rather than a loud, bustling one, this could be it. That day, we had a light drink with the tuna cracker platter, and with the pretty plating and good atmosphere, we had a really enjoyable time.

Who is this place a good fit for?
Kkeut works well as a second-round spot after a first-round meal in Daehwa-dong, and it's just as good for starting light from the beginning with one dish and a drink. If you're looking for an atmospheric bar in Daehwa-dong, Daejeon, Kkeut is a good recommendation for a relaxed drink.
