I hadn't been to Apgujeong Rodeo in a while, and I heard there was a gorgeous Chinese restaurant-bar there full of Hong Kong vibes, so I went to check it out!

It's a place where you can enjoy hard-to-find authentic Peking duck at a reasonable price, and the atmosphere is so upscale it's perfect for a date or a group gathering 👍🏻

Mirim Yangjang is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Apgujeongrodeo Station on the Suin-Bundang Line, tucked between the hotspots Supreme and Wiggle Wiggle Dosan, so it was easy to find! If you're driving, valet booths run by time slot so you can drop off comfortably. For lunch (12:00–17:00), use the Cooking Library valet booth, and for dinner after 17:00, use the valet booth right in front of the restaurant ➰

Entrance leading down to Mirim Yangjang's basement level

Basement Hong Kong-style interior inside a remodeled old tailor shop

Heading down to the basement level, the retro yet glamorous, upscale Hong Kong-style interior was so cool. From the lighting to every little prop, you could tell they put real thought into it — it was so pretty for photos and perfect as an Apgujeong date spot! Since the space used to be a tailor shop (yangjang) that made custom clothes, and was remodeled from there, it has this distinctly old-fashioned yet cozy charm that's really appealing.

What's on the menu at Mirim Yangjang, and what I ordered

Basic side dishes of peanuts and pickled bean sprouts

The basic side dishes were peanuts and pickled bean sprouts! Great to pick at with beer.

A plate of Mirim Yangjang's half Peking duck

I ordered Mirim Yangjang's signature dish, the half Peking duck! Apparently they put at least 30 hours of care into it, from drying to roasting. With Peking duck, the skin is everything, right? It came out neatly sliced, with glossy, shiny skin and moist meat — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, a textbook example of that perfect contrast.

Pungni highball

You can't skip drinks with delicious Chinese food! I paired it with the pungni highball, a signature only found at Mirim Yangjang. The refreshing, sweet pineapple flavor came through nicely, and it cut right through the richness typical of Chinese food, finishing clean and light — I loved it.

Wrapping the duck meat, scallion, cucumber and house sauce in the wheat pancakes served alongside was so good! The nuttiness of the crispy skin combined with the fresh vegetables so well that I kept going without ever feeling sick of it.

If you do the receipt review event at Mirim Yangjang, you can get this Hong Kong-style egg noodle stir-fry too! The chewy egg noodles were loaded with chicken, crunchy bean sprouts and bok choy, giving it such an appealing texture. The sweet-and-salty soy-based sauce was well soaked into the noodles, making it a perfect pairing to eat alongside the Peking duck.
