Apgujeong wine bar with sommelier-picked glass wine: Geullodeu

In short

Geullodeu is a dining wine bar in Gangnam, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Apgujeong Station on the 2nd floor of the Jeongseongdam building. Unsure about wine, the staff asked about preferences and recommended three options, and two glasses were paired with bone marrow and the pasta of the day (tomato). With floor-to-ceiling windows and generous table spacing, it's an especially good spot for an anniversary date.

Exterior of the building where Apgujeong wine bar Geullodeu is located

Geullodeu is on the 2nd floor of the Jeongseongdam restaurant building! The alley leading there was clean and quiet, and right next to a big road, so it was really easy to get to. It's about a 10-minute walk from Apgujeong Station.

Walking in, the elegant "glöd" sign greets you haha.

Floor-to-ceiling windows, wide table spacing, the interior vibe

Inside there's a huge floor-to-ceiling window, so the view was really great. The restaurant also felt spacious, which I loved!! The tables were arranged with generous spacing too, so I actually had a hard time deciding which seat I wanted to sit at ㅠㅠ Some restaurants have tables so close together it's uncomfortable... but here it felt like they respected your personal space, which I really liked.

There were plants placed here and there, plus a separate basket for bags, which made me feel like this place really thinks about its guests.

This is the table we sat at! Each table had its own lighting, and the cutlery, napkins, and water glasses were all neatly set up. Isn't the menu so pretty too haha. I think this is such a great restaurant for celebrating anniversaries or going on a date.

Wine picks that worked even without knowing much about wine

Seeing that we couldn't really pick a wine ourselves, the staff member kindly asked about our preferences and recommended three wines. Such a thoughtful touch from "Geullodeu" ㅠㅠ Apparently Geullodeu has been an officially certified Wine Spectator restaurant for two years running. That made me trust it even more haha!

In the end, we ordered two glasses of the middle wine from the recommendations. We don't know much about wine, but honestly, it was really delicious. It paired so well with the food, so if you're a wine newbie, I recommend it!!

They pour the wine right at your table like this haha.

Bone marrow, eaten 1:1 on bread

First up, the "bone marrow" we ordered! The plating alone already looked delicious.

White bread and mascarpone butter served alongside the bone marrow

It comes with white bread and smoked mascarpone butter, and you're supposed to spread the bone marrow and butter on the bread in a 1:1 ratio — the combination is insane, genuinely delicious. I wanted to eat down to the bone ㅠ.

Pasta of the day (tomato pasta)

Second, the pasta of the day (tomato pasta)! Don't think of the tomato pasta you'd usually eat. What's on top of the noodles is made from tomato skin, and it's a real specialty. Eating it together with the noodles is really delicious. The pasta noodles were nice and springy and the sauce was so good — highly recommend. Gone in seconds!!

(I'm not great at cutting it... I need more practice ㅠㅠ)

Overall verdict: better for anniversaries than blind dates

Overall: this is Apgujeong's dining scene at its finest. The atmosphere, the food, even the location — everything was excellent. Personally... the price point isn't exactly low, so I felt it might be a bit much for a blind date, but as a place for couples to go on anniversaries or special occasions, it's really, really great.

The staff were so kind that the service really impressed me too, and above all, since it's a wine bar, they had so many delicious wines ready to go, which I loved. This is "Geullodeu," a Sinsa-area wine bar I definitely want to visit again. Highly recommend!!
