I have good memories of eating well at Haemokjeong's Yeonsu main branch, so after watching a play with my mom at the nearby culture and arts center, we stopped by the Guwol branch for a late dinner :)

The menu is pretty varied, so instead of just ordering braised dishes, it's better to come with a group and share a main dish alongside noodle soup or hot pot! There are also set menus like Set A, Set B, and a Special Set with different combinations.

Group seating at Haemokjeong Guwol Branch late in the evening

True to its reputation as an angler fish and braised ribs spot, it was bustling with customers even late in the evening. Still, the place is spacious with plenty of tables, so we found seats easily haha

It's not a private room, but there are semi-enclosed seating areas, so it's great for group gatherings or work dinners too. Since it's a fairly new location, everything felt clean and tidy overall.

Each table has two burners, so you can cook two dishes at once — such a great feature. The side dishes are all tasty too, especially the seaweed soup. Interestingly, Haemokjeong's seaweed soup has squid in it, which is chewy with great texture and flavor~!

How is the boneless angler fish stew sauce and fried rice?

The boneless angler fish stew (₩35,000) comes loaded with boneless angler fish, roe, and milt.

The roe and milt were fresh and the sauce was seriously delicious. It was just the right level of spicy-sweet, and I wanted to hurry up and fry rice with it ㅜ_ㅜ haha. I ate the fried rice as soon as it was made so I don't have a separate photo, but it's really good — you have to fry rice with the leftover sauce! haha

Seafood braised ribs: octopus and pork ribs in one pan

I wanted meat but also wanted plenty of roe and milt, so I ordered the seafood braised ribs (₩48,000) 🐙🦀🐟🦐

Apparently this dish won a grand prize! It's a combo of ribs, long-arm octopus, squid, roe, and milt.

There was a generous amount of plump octopus in it.

The squid was tender too, not chewy at all, which I loved.

Honestly, since it's called seafood braised ribs, I didn't expect much from the ribs themselves, but they were genuinely tender and delicious. There isn't a huge amount of meat, but if you want to enjoy meat and seafood together, I'd recommend the seafood braised ribs!
