Yangyang riverside café with electric boat rides: Cafe Dunchi
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a café floating on the lower Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, Gangwon, connected to the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Experience Center downstairs. I had coffee overlooking the river, then drove an electric boat myself; seeing the scenery from both indoors and on the water was the highlight.

What scenery can you see at this Yangyang Namdaecheon café?
Wanting to rest while looking at quiet scenery, I visited Cafe Dunchi, which floats on the surface of the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang. It had a calm river atmosphere distinct from cafés overlooking the sea.

Located on the lower reaches of Namdaecheon, it offered views of the sea horizon and mountains beyond the river. I spent time looking at the lush summer greenery and river water, and even with slightly overcast weather, the tranquil atmosphere was lovely.

What are the interior and seating like?
The interior had a wood-toned feel, with a wooden ceiling and lighting. Foliage plants were placed throughout, and the view of Namdaecheon Ecological Park came in through the large windows. Sitting in the second-floor café with coffee and looking out at the river was relaxing.

The tables were fairly well spaced. There were seats for one person, couples, and groups, so solo travelers, couples, and families could choose according to their party size.
How much are the drinks and desserts?
Besides coffee, the menu included fruit ade, handmade tea, and smoothies. The prices recorded in the original post were around ₩5,000 for an Americano and ₩4,000 for a handmade egg tart.
I ordered an iced Americano and a cold drink. The cup holders featured Cafe Dunchi’s character logo. The coffee was nutty and clean-tasting, making it nice to sip slowly while looking at the river.
Can you try an electric boat ride at the café?
The café was connected to the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Experience Center on the first floor. After having coffee, I went down to the dock, where electric boats with canopies were floating.

I took the wheel and drove a boat powered by an electric motor. When I rode it, it was not fast and felt simple to operate. The river and surrounding scenery looked different from the water than they did from the café window. Drinks were allowed on board, so I had mine in the river breeze.
How much are the electric boat and Hwangpo sailboat rides?
The experience prices and terms recorded in the original post are as follows.
- Electric boat for 1–4 people: ₩30,000 for 30 minutes; self-drive.
- Electric boat for 1–6 people: ₩35,000 for 30 minutes; self-drive.
- Hwangpo sailboat: ₩6,000 for children aged 13 and under, ₩8,000 for teenagers aged 14–19, and ₩10,000 for adults aged 20 and over.
- The Hwangpo sailboat is listed as requiring a minimum of eight people, with a 20-minute ride.
The boat ride, where I experienced the gentle ripples and surrounding green scenery up close, was the most memorable part of this visit. The nearby Namdaecheon Salmon Ecological Park also continues with a deck path and an observatory, making for a good walking route after the boat ride.
Where is Cafe Dunchi, and is parking available?
The address is 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon State. Following Ilchul-ro along the Namdaecheon River, I could see the wooden building on the water. There was a large dedicated parking lot directly in front of the café, and parking was free.
The original post notes that it operates daily, with last order at 20:30. It does not give opening or closing times. A terrace and blanket rental were also listed as amenities.
