Salt Steak atmosphere and seating

Every time I come to Songdo it feels so international. There are really a lot of foreigners. Maybe that's why all the staff at Salt Steak were fluent in English. I'm jealous... I majored in English too, but... haha.

The main item at Salt Steak is steak. There are also pasta and salads, and carrot râpée as a side.

Table prepared in advance for a reservation at Salt Steak

Salt Steak is a popular spot near Songdo Central Park, so a reservation is a must before your date. If you book, they take you straight to a table that's already prepared. The bread was already set out too.

Thin, crispy starter bread with lemon butter

The starter bread at Salt Steak was different from any I've had before: thin and crunchy. Crispiness felt unfamiliar for table bread, but with the delicious lemon butter it was a treat.

I ordered two Coke Zeros and they came with lemon on top. You can see the attention to detail.

Chorizo alla chitarra pasta topped with lemon

What does Salt Steak's chorizo alla chitarra pasta taste like?

The chorizo alla chitarra pasta is ₩24,000, an oil-based pasta made with garlic, chorizo, cherry tomatoes and corn. A staff member squeezed the lemon on top over the pasta right at the table, adding a fresh zing. I'd never seen that before, so it was fun to watch.

Chorizo oil-based fresh pasta topped with arugula

The arugula gave it a lovely fragrance. Since it's an oil-based fresh pasta, the noodles were clearly delicious, nothing like ordinary dried pasta.

You could taste the cheese and the freshness together. It didn't feel like a plain oil pasta; it had serious umami. My husband and I both raved that it was the best pasta we'd had all year. If you go to Salt Steak, you have to try the chorizo pasta. This dish could make it the king of Songdo pasta.

The corn texture was so good. The sauce was so tasty that I ended up scraping up every last bit at the end... not my classiest moment.

Finished plate of ghee butter petit tender steak 200g

Tableside ghee butter pour on the petit tender steak

The ghee butter petit tender steak 200g is ₩57,000. They showed us the finished dish, and of course there was a performance. Thanks to that, Salt Steak feels even better as an anniversary restaurant in Songdo. They poured boiling ghee over the steak, and the hot ghee cooked it as it sizzled.

Petit tender is a premium cut of wagyu, known for being lean and clean-tasting. It wasn't greasy. Despite having little fat, the steak was tender.

The petit tender is best when you put it on the levain baguette. The levain bread itself is soft and nutty, and eaten with the mild petit tender it was clean, healthy and delicious.

House salad and perilla oil carrot râpée

The house salad at Salt Steak is really good. The dressing wasn't harsh or overdone; it just made the vegetables taste good and stand out. The tomatoes were peeled, so they were soft. Even the grated cheese on the house salad was amazing.

The perilla oil carrot râpée is ₩3,500. It's not your ordinary carrot râpée. The nutty perilla oil flavor was strong, but it wasn't only that; the thick beet sauce was good too. You could feel the attention to detail even in a simple carrot râpée.

It was so good that I cleaned my plate for the first time in a while, so here's the proof (not that anyone asked).

They even gave us candy to freshen up afterward at this Songdo steak restaurant.

I've found a truly great restaurant. Salt Steak was the best Western restaurant I've been to in Songdo. I wholeheartedly vouch for it as a top spot near Songdo Central Park.
