Siheung duck restaurant for a 6pm dinner before Traders: Grill Duck

Today I was on my way to Traders at Starfield Bucheon to grocery shop, and since it was getting close to dinnertime, I was racking my brain over what to eat that would be so good the news would travel all the way to Incheon haha.

Since it's summer and duck is supposed to be perfect for boosting your health, I headed to Bucheon. This is Grill Duck, a well-known spot near Starfield Bucheon.

Grill Duck, a recommended duck spot near Starfield Bucheon, is close enough to the mall to be a good stop after shopping. Plus, since it has its own parking lot, it seemed to attract a lot of families.

Arriving at 6pm: the last free table at Grill Duck

We visited Grill Duck, a duck restaurant well known around Bucheon's Okgil-dong, right after 6pm. There were seriously so many people. I didn't manage to take a single photo of the interior because of it lol. The table we got was the last one available 💦

Every table was families — mostly people who'd brought their parents along. It clearly had a reputation as a great spot for family outings.

We ordered the half-and-half set — 400g raw duck and 400g marinated duck.

The side dishes and the fire setup both felt totally systemized. As soon as our order went in, the charcoal for the duck and the pan for the marinated duck were both set up in a flash — it made things so easy. They really do get it ready fast hahaha.

How Grill Duck's half-and-half set arrives: raw duck and marinated duck

Grill Duck's half-and-half duck is grilled separately on two different pans — marinated and raw. The marinated duck comes out together with various vegetables: perilla leaves, green onion, onion, and rice cakes or potatoes and carrots.

And then the raw duck, just for me, gets grilled on its own pan. It didn't seem to be seasoned at all. Since it's raw, unlike the marinated version, it's not spicy, so it looked good for kids too.

As the marinated duck cooked, a slightly spicy smell started rising. Mixed with the perilla leaf aroma, I was drooling 🫠🫠 The pan is big and the fire spreads well, so it cooked quickly. You just need to stir it occasionally with the spatula.

The side of duck soup (ori gomtang) is the real winner

At Grill Duck, a well-known duck restaurant near Starfield Bucheon, eating with pickled radish, potato, and perilla leaf was genuinely delicious. The raw duck, grilled and wrapped, was light and clean, and putting the marinated duck on top was a real thumbs-up moment.

And on top of that, they gave us a side of duck soup? With chives and either perilla seeds or Sichuan pepper inside, whatever it was — this was seriously delicious. It's a different flavor from beef bone soup, and the more I ate, the more my whole body felt loose and relaxed ;-; Even my picky-eater boyfriend, who was trying it for the first time, kept eating and saying it was good, haha.

The grilled raw duck wasn't greasy at all, just light. But that doesn't mean it was bland or dry either — it was actually tender. Maybe it's good-quality duck, but there was barely any oil splattering, and it felt clean overall haha.

Self-serve sauce bar and fried rice: how many people does the half-and-half set feed?

Grill Duck, near Starfield Bucheon, also has a self-serve bar inside with all kinds of sauces. Beyond pickled radish and vegetables, there's wasabi, mustard seed, mustard, barbecue sauce, and salt, so you can eat according to your taste — that was another plus.

We really cleaned our plates, and then I got curious about the duck fried rice too. Even the classic Korean after-meal fried rice was clean and not greasy, unlike fried rice made with pork fat!!

The half-and-half duck comes with 400g of each, which is a bit much for two people. I think it's better shared among about 3 people!!!

Holding my full belly, we each grabbed a brewed coffee and a mix coffee on the way out. Such a nice touch that they leave out ice and takeout cups so you can grab some for the road 👍👍 You don't even need to look for coffee elsewhere 😘
