Sometimes you just crave sushi, right? 🍣💗 Today I went to Sushi Hwa for lunch, and it was so fresh and delicious! It's on Bongridan-gil where I go often, so I'd passed by a few times, but I heard it was a great spot, so I finally visited haha

The interior was pretty and the food was so clean and neat — really loved it 🫶🏻 Let me give you my honest review of the generous spread at Sushi Hwa!

Finding Sushi Hwa on Bongridan-gil in Bonghwang-dong

My mom really loves sushi, and that's how we found Sushi Hwa 💛

When I first saw the exterior, it gave off a European café vibe 🤍 The orange sign especially caught my eye, so it was easy to spot from far away!

Stepping inside, it had the warm wood-tone interior I love, so that was another point in its favor 🪵🌿

The overall vibe was calm and tidy, with partitions installed here and there so each table felt separated! We could chat comfortably with my mom over the meal without feeling too close to the next table 😊

There were also separate bar seats! It seemed like a comfortable option for people who want to enjoy sushi solo, or who want to watch it being made up close 🍣 If you're looking for lunch on Bongridan-gil, this felt like a place that gets the atmosphere right too!

What the 'very excellent' hygiene grade at Sushi Hwa means

With sushi you often eat the ingredients raw as they are, so I tend to pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness 👀

Sushi Hwa had the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's 'very excellent' hygiene grade plaque right there! Seeing it made me think, 'oh, this place is managed cleanly,' and I could eat with more peace of mind 😊 It's also designated as a Gimhae Safe Restaurant, which I really liked too 💚 Being able to trust the cleanliness of the place bumped up my overall satisfaction!

And finally, the food we'd been waiting for ~~!!

That day we ordered 🍣 the raw sushi set for 15,000 won 🔥 and the flame-seared sushi set for 15,000 won! Looking at the menu, there were so many types of sushi that I almost couldn't decide, hahaha 🤣 The sets let you choose udon or soba, so we each picked one and shared 🍜

Look at the sashimi... 👀✨ It looked so fresh just from the visual!

The raw sushi set was great for tasting the natural flavor of the ingredients, and the salmon and shrimp were mild and soft — so tasty! The flame-seared sushi lived up to its name, with a real smoky char flavor 🔥

There was a light smoky char to it, giving it a whole different charm from the raw sushi! If you love sushi, I'd recommend ordering both raw and flame-seared to compare based on your taste 🍣✨

The side plates: salad, blueberries and a tub of wasabi

A salad came with the set too! It came with a separate yuzu sauce, so it was nice to add a refreshing touch 🍋💛 It gave a clean, refreshed feeling in the mouth, which I liked!

They also gave us blueberries separately, which were good to pair with the salad or eat like a dessert after the meal 🫐💜 I really liked how they paid attention to even the small details!

We each picked one of udon or soba too, and the seasoning wasn't too strong — just right for pairing with sushi 🍜✨ Taking a sip of warm udon broth and then a bite of sushi was such a great combo haha

When we ran low on wasabi, they just brought us a whole tub to use as we liked 🤣 I thought, 'wow, the owner is so generous!' 💚 I'm someone who really likes wasabi, so thanks to that I got to enjoy my sushi without ever running short haha

Is Sushi Hwa a good quiet lunch spot in Bonghwang-dong?

What I was most satisfied with overall at Sushi Hwa this time was how clean everything was, from the food to the atmosphere! I wanted a quiet lunch with my mom, and we got to eat comfortably 😊

With delicious sushi plus udon and soba on top, it was quite a filling meal! So I'd like to recommend Sushi Hwa to anyone looking for lunch on Bongridan-gil or trying to decide on a meal in Bonghwang-dong 🫶🏻 It's a good option for a date or a family lunch on Bongridan-gil, and if you love sushi, it's definitely worth a visit!
