Evening forest-view café in Gimhae: U-Cream Latte vs U-Sim Shake

While looking for a café near Inje University in Gimhae, I found Yu Yu Yu, a Gimhae café where you can enjoy coffee with both forest and mountain views 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️ Having its own parking lot made it easy to visit by car, and heading up to the second floor revealed a space bigger than I expected — great for a relaxed cup of coffee. They've recently expanded too, so it's even bigger now! The building is split into two spaces on either side.

Yu Yu Yu is pretty spacious from the moment you walk in, and that open feeling is great. Sitting by the window especially gives you a full view of green trees and mountains — a perfect spot to just zone out looking outside 🌳 I visited in the evening this time so I couldn't see the scenery, but even just the spacious interior, outdoor area, and night view made it worth the visit! It's also dog-friendly, so if you have a pup, feel free to bring them along.

Visiting on a day with cool weather made me feel unexpectedly relaxed... it had a vibe like stepping just outside downtown Gimhae for a little healing haha.

🥐 What's on the bakery shelves at Yu Yu Yu

Inside Yu Yu Yu café, there was quite a variety of bakery items too. From salt bread to financiers, cookies, and cakes — plenty of desserts that go well with coffee! Since it was evening, a lot of items were already sold out. If you want to try your favorite bread, I'd recommend visiting around lunchtime!

That day I picked two things: plain salt bread + financier 🥐🍪

The salt bread had a plain but salty flavor that paired perfectly with coffee, and the financier was chewy and nutty, making it a light dessert to enjoy. Honestly, picking just one bread at a café is always the hardest part... so I end up being the person who picks two 🙋🏻‍♀️

☕️ What we ordered at Yu Yu Yu

I ordered: U-Cream Latte / U-Sim Shake / café latte / plain salt bread / financier! On the drink menu, the items with an illustration at the top are the signature menu items!

Out of all of them, the ones I was most curious about, judging just from the names, were the U-Cream Latte and U-Sim Shake — both feel like distinctly Yu Yu Yu signatures. I asked a staff member which was more popular, and interestingly, they said the U-Cream Latte tends to be a hit with women, while the U-Sim Shake is preferred by men. So I compared the two myself, and honestly, the vibe was quite different~!

🥛 U-Cream Latte: how does it taste?

A latte topped with soft cream, sweet and smooth to drink! You get the coffee's bitterness together with the cream's sweetness, so it paired really well with dessert too. The staff said women tend to like it, and I could kind of see why 🤍 I personally like Vienna-style coffees, so I really enjoyed this one!

🥤 U-Sim Shake: how does it taste?

And the slightly curious U-Sim Shake! Since the staff said men tend to like it more, I had my younger brother, who came along, try it. He took one sip and said:

This tastes like something guys who did their military service would love.

Hahahaha. To describe it — it's kind of like Maxim instant coffee made into a shake? Sweet and nutty with a subtle coffee flavor, both familiar and fun. Especially for anyone who likes Maxim coffee, this is worth trying at least once! Seeing my brother's reaction, I kind of understood why people say guys prefer it haha. But honestly, I think anyone would like it!

☕ The plain café latte at Yu Yu Yu

I also ordered a plain café latte, which was nutty and smooth — an easy, reliable choice. Personally, at a café I like ordering one signature drink plus one plain latte, so it was fun comparing the two side by side.

🌳 Window seats at Yu Yu Yu for a slow evening

And Yu Yu Yu's biggest strength is definitely the view! Since it's a place with beautiful scenery, the window seats are well set up. There's also a wide range of seating, from solo seats great for studying to 2-person and up to 12-person tables, so it's great whether you're visiting alone or with a big family! The space is spacious and the seats are comfortable, so it's nice for chatting with friends, or bringing a laptop to work solo 💻

Sitting by the window on the second floor especially, you get a view of green trees and mountains — perfect for zoning out over coffee for a bit. And at the entrance of the other building on the first floor, there's a little play area like this, which kids would love! Though they didn't catch much haha. With several fun elements to enjoy, it felt like a nice way to end a good day.
