Gongdeok brunch restaurant for homemade-sauce omurice: HEOD Gongdeok

HEOD Mapo's terrace brunch, famous for French toast, and a great dog-friendly date spot in Gongdeok.

This is my review after a weekend date at HEOD Mapo, the terrace brunch spot in Gongdeok. I heard it had just opened from a Threads post and really wanted to go. On Naver Map, it comes up under 'HEOD Gongdeok' — apparently the name will change soon!

It sits right in front of Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so you get a lush, green view. Plus it's dog-friendly, making it a great spot to grab a meal after walking your dog. Checking the entrance sign, they also run events for birthdays and for soldiers, so it's a fun place to catch some kind of event too.

The easy-on-the-eyes beige and lime-green accents give HEOD Mapo's interior a stylish feel. It's a popular spot with waits, so booking ahead makes it much easier to get a seat. Naver reservation is available too.

There were cute little objects scattered around the space that were fun to look at. Coming for brunch in such a pretty space on a nice day, I felt my recent gloomy mood get smoothed out like it was pressed flat with an iron, haha.

The terrace window seats facing Gyeongui Line Forest Park near Daeheung Station are especially great for a blind date or a romantic date. Reservations for the window seats are fiercely competitive, so if you manage to book one, maybe your date will compliment your good taste, haha.

Here's the menu and pricing at HEOD, the dog-friendly brunch spot in Gongdeok. There are lunch and dinner set menus, plus steak and gnocchi set menus, so you have plenty of set options to choose from.

You can also order à la carte items like French toast, pasta, risotto, pilaf, and gnocchi. Since HEOD made its name for French toast in Gangneung before expanding to Seoul, I ordered the butter French toast and the HEOD omurice.

They also have cafe drinks and light alcohol options like wine, highballs, and beer, so HEOD works for both a proper meal and a casual brunch hangout. Since we came for a light brunch early in the morning, we also added an iced americano.

What to order at HEOD Gongdeok: omurice and butter French toast

I hadn't had omurice in a while, so I ordered the HEOD omurice. It wasn't greasy at all, so I enjoyed it to the last bite. It was packed with ingredients — bacon, onion, bell pepper, ground meat — giving it a rich, layered flavor. The omurice sauce is also handmade in-house at HEOD, which made it stand out even more. Pairing it with the sausage and tomato on the side made the whole plate feel more balanced and satisfying.

I also tried the French toast I'd been curious about! I ordered the most basic option, the butter French toast.

It came with maple syrup and whipped cream, which were great to pair with the toast. It was sweet in a basic, classic way, and the bread had a nice, moist texture.

After filling up lightly on the omurice, this French toast at HEOD Mapo was the perfect dessert to follow.

The iced americano was really tasty too!! It had a moderately nutty, heavy flavor that blended naturally with the brunch dishes.

How dog-friendly is HEOD Gongdeok in Mapo?

It was so nice that HEOD Gongdeok welcomes dogs too. Our dog stayed calm inside her dog bag the whole time, which made the meal even more relaxed. The other guests kept giving warm smiles whenever they made eye contact with our dog, and I really appreciated that. After brunch at HEOD Gongdeok, we could walk straight into Gyeongui Line Forest Park right out front, making it a great weekend date course for dog families. Great food, great atmosphere, this Daeheung Station brunch spot HEOD Mapo — revisit intention 1000%!!
