My personal all-time favorite cutlet restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon!!! Let me introduce you to Gyewondang 💗

What kind of cutlet restaurant is Gyewondang in Ingye-dong, Suwon?

If you're a regular in Ingye-dong, you already know Gyewondang is a real neighborhood favorite! Even on a busy day, they want you to be able to have a proper meal — the place reinterprets the warm feel of 1980s Western-style Korean diners and neat table-setting culture in a modern way!!

The interior mixed old-school charm with a modern feel — kind of like a real hanjeongsik (Korean full-course meal) restaurant... clean and upscale, totally my style 🥹💖

We came on a weekend early evening so it wasn't too crowded, but quite a few people were coming in for takeout too!!!

What a couple ordered: two Gyewon Sets and a butter chicken curry

Gyewondang's menu was really varied! Since we wanted to try a bit of everything, we ordered two Gyewon Sets, and we also added a butter chicken curry because we wanted something to dip in!!!

You order through the tablet at each table~~ What made Gyewondang special compared to other cutlet restaurants was that the rice comes as fried rice...!!! (you can choose your rice) I was so excited!? And you could also swap it for a hot dog bun if you preferred!!!

Getting ready to eat! I quickly set out the spoon and chopsticks on the right side of the table~~ (a fork and knife come out with the menu too!!)

After a short wait, the Gyewon Set arrived!!!! The visuals were incredible, right? The photos really don't do it justice...

Seriously, the camera can't capture how good the fried food looked ㅠㅠㅠ From the left: chicken cutlet, fried chicken cutlet, and hand-cut sirloin pork cutlet — you could tell just by looking that they'd be crispy as heck...🥹💗💗

The whole spread was so beautifully arranged it felt like being treated to something special!!! Even my husband, a total cutlet lover, gasped, "Whoa... this looks amazing!"!!!🫢🫢

Self-serve side dishes and 900-won unlimited soda

The extra side dishes that came with our meal were free to grab from the self-serve bar in front of the kitchen!

With all that fried food, we were craving something to drink, so we added the ₩900 all-you-can-drink option too! So glad we did haha.

It really felt like being at a buffet! They had Fanta, Zero Coke, Sprite, and regular Coke, and you could pick whatever you wanted — the fizzy refreshment made the cutlets taste even better~~~ If you love your drinks, pay ₩900 and enjoy unlimited refills!!!!! Not ordering it would be a real loss ✨

Is the butter chicken curry worth adding?

This is the curry we ordered together! Ah, this is seriously a rice thief ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I dipped the cutlet in it and it was ridiculously good^^... what a combo... I mixed it into my rice, dipped my cutlet in it, ate it all up like a pro!!!!

Sauce options and how the chicken cutlet tasted

You can choose your cutlet sauce when you order! The default cutlet sauce comes drizzled on top, but you can add spicy sauce or seasoned-chicken sauce for free, and they'll give you more if you run out!! We picked one spicy and one seasoned-chicken sauce and honestly, every combo was amazing..😭

I took the first bite of the chicken cutlet and met my all-time favorite chicken cutlet restaurant... crispy outside, juicy inside at its absolute peak, the meat itself so tender it melted in my mouth? Since it uses 100% whole chicken thigh meat, the tenderness was insane ㅠㅠㅠ

The sauce was so good that putting it on the fried rice made you gasp with every bite..!!! That fried rice is straight-up magic!!!!

Fried chicken cutlet and house-made sirloin pork cutlet

The fried chicken cutlet had a totally different charm from the chicken cutlet — full of juice inside and so tender it made you want a beer 🥹💗

And the sirloin pork cutlet — what more can I say... I expected it to be dry since it was thicker and bigger than I thought, but it was 0.0001% dry ㅠㅠㅠㅠ This is my all-time favorite cutlet...!!! Any cutlet lover would definitely love this taste and texture ✨ The portions were generous, and all three types had their own charm so we never got tired of eating!!!!

So we scraped both plates completely clean...^^ ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ If it's delicious enough for my cutlet-connoisseur husband, then this place is a genuinely certified favorite, you know?! Definitely go, you won't regret it 🔥🔥
