Bucheon Korean BBQ over rice husks with gangsoeju: Cham Dwaejitgan
In short
Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi that grills pork over rice husks and binchotan charcoal. Hosting an aunt and uncle who had moved back to Namwon, four people ate about six servings — Jirisan black pork, Boseong nokdon pork belly and pork jowl, plus an extra order of pork neck — with Jirisan gangsoeju, and the staff brought milk thistle tablets for everyone at the table. The meat and the mushroom wasabi sauce were satisfying, though noise from a large group next to them means asking for a window seat next time.

After my last visit, this time I brought my aunt and uncle along to Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch. Since they moved back to Namwon, it seemed like the two of them didn't eat much meat when it was just the two of them, so I took them to Cham Dwaejitgan to load up on protein.
Where is Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch, and when is it open?
The location is 1142-2 Jungdong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open 24 hours a day, every day, with a weekday break time of 8:30–11:30. You'll need to use a nearby public parking lot, as there's no parking support.
Pork grilled over rice husks and charcoal, and the table setting
As soon as you sit down at Cham Dwaejitgan, you notice the rice husks and charcoal. The pork grilled over rice husks and charcoal is so delicious that I decided to bring my aunt and uncle this time. As soon as we sat down, my uncle was curious whether all the barbecue places young people go to these days have staff with such a cool style, haha.
The aging meat on display at Cham Dwaejitgan
And the meat that's aging is just gorgeous, lol
When you sit down, they set the table first, and it's so neat and colorful and pretty. You can also grab more sauce or wraps from the self-bar.
Don't skip the mushroom wasabi sauce
Everyone, you have to try this. It's a sauce called mushroom wasabi and it's insane. So delicious, ugh. My uncle in particular kept asking what sauce this was that tasted so good, and he loved it!
Jirisan black pork, Boseong nokdon pork belly and pork jowl
We ordered Jirisan black pork along with Boseong nokdon pork belly and pork jowl. And there's no need to grill it yourself—the staff carefully grills everything for you!
And the potato wrap I was so looking forward to! It comes out sliced super thin and grilled almost like it's fried, and it was so good. Jojo was fascinated because I love root vegetables. If it's potatoes versus rice, I'll go for the potatoes.
Jirisan gangsoeju and the milk thistle tablets
And we ordered the drink I had last time, called Jirisan gangsoeju. Once again, they thoughtfully attached two milk thistle tablets to it, haha. Since there were four of us, we got four milk thistle tablets total. My aunt and uncle were amazed that Korean BBQ places do this these days, haha. And meanwhile Jojo kept reaching over to order more meat.
It has a cheongju (rice wine)-like feel, but it's not sweet, clean, and so delicious! Jojo and I fell for it last time and ordered it again today. But my uncle took one sip and said this didn't taste like alcohol, and asked us to order him a Chamisul instead, haha.

Ordering extra pork neck: no potato wraps the second time
The meat was so good we ordered extra pork neck. Even for the extra order, they grill it all the way through for you. But on the extra order, the potato that came out the first time doesn't come again—looks like you'd need to order it separately.
Finishing with doenjang jjigae and fried rice
We finished with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and fried rice. The doenjang jjigae was the kind of delicious stew you want at a barbecue place, and the fried rice was good too! But for our taste, the stew was a bit sweet, hmm.
Service, restrooms, and the noisy table next door
Living up to its reputation as a popular, crowded spot, the service extras were plentiful. On top of that, they even had stick mouthwash and deodorizer available!
The restrooms were clean and indoors, with one stall each separated for men and women. Going outside to find a restroom while drinking can feel a bit uncomfortable, but here you don't have to worry about that.
Behind us, probably because Chuseok was approaching, there was a table having a gathering, and next time if they seat us in front of a group table like that, I'll ask for a different spot. Beyond the noise, they kept bumping our chairs while taking photos, and since they were already drunk, they kept nudging us, which was unpleasant. Next time we've decided to ask for a window seat. Other than that, the meat was so delicious, and my aunt and uncle were satisfied too—I think we ate about six servings of meat total,,?
