Sejong jokbal restaurant kids will eat: Cheongmigwan bossam takeout

With kids around, family meals out aren't always easy these days. Especially with two boys! Taking them to a restaurant together means... T_T It's hard to even have a relaxing drink. You just end up frustrated mid-meal haha.

So it had been a while, but I picked up jokbal (braised pig trotter) and bossam (boiled pork wrap) takeout from Cheongmigwan, a jokbal favorite in Naseong-dong. I've been going there on and off for a while now — personally, I like Cheongmigwan because their jokbal is soft and delicious.

Cheongmigwan in Naseong-dong. At first glance, it feels a bit different from a typical jokbal place. The interior feels less like a jokbal restaurant and more like a stylish Korean gastropub.

Reserving ahead, picking up the takeout and getting the discount

I placed a takeout order for jokbal and bossam at Cheongmigwan ahead of time, then went in at the right time and just grabbed the packed food. Waiting around at a restaurant is a bit of a hassle anyway, so ordering in advance and picking it right up is really convenient. Plus there's a takeout discount ^^ haha.

With jokbal, bossam, and a bunch of side dishes to go with them all prepared, you can set up a pretty proper spread even at home.

One reason I've loved Cheongmigwan's jokbal for a while now is that the meat is quite tender. Maybe it's because it had been a while since I last had it, but today it felt even softer than usual.

Picking up a piece of the lean meat, it slices apart really smoothly. If jokbal is too tough or the lean meat is dry, I only manage a few bites before losing interest, but Cheongmigwan has never let me down. The meat was especially soft today, so the kids really dug in too.

We piled things onto lettuce leaves and also just picked up pieces of meat on their own. When you're eating with family, taste matters, but how easy it is to eat matters just as much I think. Good call getting it to go haha. Jokbal really is best wrapped!

A leaf of lettuce, a piece of jokbal, a bit of kimchi and side dishes, garlic or chili on top, then one big bite. Add a drink on the side and you don't need to say anything else haha.

We had a drink with the family at home today too. Eating out means being mindful of people around us and running around after the kids, but at home we can just sit comfortably and have a drink — that's its own kind of pleasure. With good food to pair it with, the drinks go down easy haha.

I tried a piece of bossam too. Like the jokbal, the bossam meat was on the tender side too, so it was easy to eat without any fuss.

We even threw in some frozen kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) we had at home. Really going all out today haha.

What Cheongmigwan is like if you dine in

We ended up eating it all at home this time, but Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch has a pretty great in-store atmosphere too.

It's good not just for family meals but for drinks with friends or group gatherings too.

My honest verdict on Cheongmigwan jokbal and bossam

I've been a regular at Cheongmigwan for a while now, and this time I ordered takeout to enjoy at home with the kids. What I like about Cheongmigwan is the soft, tender texture. It's really nice that the kids eat well there too ^^

And while eating in-store is great, I'd also recommend getting takeout and enjoying it comfortably at home. That's a small kind of happiness too. 😊
