High ceilings and open windows: the outdoor-style room at Cham Dwaejitgan

Step inside and you're greeted by a hip hall with high ceilings and exposed pipes. Each table has its own ventilation system, so there was no worry about smelling like meat afterward. The space is quite spacious too, so it seemed like a comfortable fit for bigger groups. Plus, since the weather was nice and the windows were open, it felt cool and breezy, almost like eating at an outdoor pojangmacha — I bet it'd be even better on a rainy day!

Today's order was the Cham pork belly (Boseong Nokdon) at ₩16,000 per serving! Here are the side dishes that came out — wraps, shredded scallions, and cabbage salad too!

The sauces also came in a nice variety — wasabi, salt, garlic, and spicy sauce, so it was fun to mix and match. Garlic and spicy sauce together was my favorite combo. And honestly, just dipping the meat in salt was already delicious! With all the variety, I never got bored.

The self-bar: perilla leaves and lettuce, as much as you want

Lettuce, perilla leaves, cabbage, and kimchi were all available in unlimited amounts from the self-bar. Grilling the shredded scallions and bean sprouts together with the meat was delicious, and I grabbed plenty of perilla leaves, since that's my favorite, to eat with the pork.

The thick-cut pork belly had a nice hint of marbling, which already built up my expectations just from the look of it. They set it up so we could grill mugwort, seasoned bean sprouts, and kimchi on one side of the pan along with the meat. The fragrant mugwort aroma paired really well with the pork. And wrapping it all together with the meat — that's pure bliss!

Staff grill the pork belly for you at the table

As soon as it hit the pan there was a sizzling sound and the smell of cooking meat spread instantly. We also grilled mushrooms alongside to pick up that smoky flavor. Since the staff grilled it for us directly, we didn't have to worry about timing at all and could just relax. They got it perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. It was great being able to chat comfortably with my friend while eating.

I picked up a nicely browned piece of pork belly and tried it — maybe because it's Boseong Nokdon, but it was clean with no gamey smell, and the meat's own juices really came through. Wrapping it together with grilled potato made the flavor of the meat even better.

And of course, you can't have pork belly without soju! We ordered some. There was even a liver supplement promotion attached to the bottle, which somehow made it feel like they cared about their guests' health too! We drank it right after the meat.

The grilling skills here really stood out! Thanks to that, I think we ate so well! They grilled with real care and were very friendly.
