Naver reservation worked even on a Friday evening

This time I went to Robatayaki Sodam Guro Digital Complex Branch, one of the really popular izakaya spots in Guro. It was nice that I could reserve through Naver even though it was Friday evening.

The room and booth seating vibe

With rooms and partitions, the place felt really private and well divided, which seems to be part of why it's so popular.

Even though the whole place was pretty big and spacious, with window seats and bar seats too, it was almost fully booked by around 8 PM on Friday.

True to an izakaya, fresh raw ingredients and sashimi were all set out. Seeing that kind of setup made me feel like I was abroad, haha!

They were also running a review event offering up to ₩33,300 off — such a big discount that it's definitely worth joining!

Being a well-known izakaya in Guro, they had various set menus at reasonable prices, plus skewers, aged sashimi, grilled fish, nabe, and sides — a really wide selection to choose from.

They also had various liquors like sake and Ilpum Jinro, and since the prices were reasonable, a lot of people seemed to be ordering Ilpum Jinro.

The Ilpum Jinro set I ordered! On top of the discount, ordering Ilpum Jinro also got us tonic water and lemon.

And this place gives you a fried egg as the basic side dish, which really helps line your stomach before drinking — light and delicious.

The No. 3 set (sashimi small + oden nabe) came out all at once. The portion was filling enough for two or even three people, and the colors looked great too.

The oden nabe (fish cake hot pot) came piled high with crown daisy greens on top, which made it feel refreshing, and since it was skewered fish cake, it was very easy to share with everyone at the table.

There were so many types of fish cake — flat, curly, long, and cheese-filled — and they were all delicious.

The soy sauce was seasoned just salty enough to dip the fish cake in, and the cabbage, green onion, and other vegetables inside made it a great choice to order as a side.

Time to make the Ilpum Jinro highball properly! I put ice, lemon, tonic, and Ilpum Jinro into a glass that fit perfectly in one hand and mixed it up to try.

True to a distilled spirit known for its clean finish, it was really clean, tasty, and smooth going down. No wonder people drink so much Ilpum Jinro!

Sashimi (small)

The sashimi (small) had a nice variety — flounder, salmon, sea bass, mullet, mackerel, yellowtail, octopus — and the colors looked really appetizing.

The sashimi slices were also cut nice and thick, easy to eat in one bite, and it paired really well with the Ilpum Jinro and the fish cake soup.

I dipped the thickly sliced sashimi in the tasty chogochujang (vinegared chili paste) and it really tasted fresh and clean.

Even at the small size, the portion was generous and the sashimi variety was wide, which made it even more enjoyable. The sashimi itself was chewy and fresh, which I liked even more.

With so many accompaniments like pickled radish, wasabi, and radish sprouts, it was fun mixing and matching, and the sashimi was clean with no fishy smell, which left me very satisfied.

Honest review

Overall, this is the textbook izakaya — delicious, clean, and great for conversation! Good enough to be called one of the best izakaya spots in Guro, and enjoyable to eat there with clean, tasty food.
