Today I want to introduce a wine bar I visited recently. It's called "Sugar Hill," located in Haebangchon, Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu.

You can find wine bar Sugar Hill once you walk into Sinheung Market (신흥시장) in Haebangchon! This was my first time visiting Sinheung Market, and everything felt so new to me. Hahaha, why did it take me this long to come here!

A small restaurant, bar, and culture space tucked into Sinheung Market in Haebangchon — that's Sugar Hill. They serve house-made dishes alongside carefully selected wine, whiskey, and signature cocktails, with music curated by a musician-chef, creating a space where flavor, mood, and conversation naturally come together.

A place where you come for a meal and end up hearing great music, sharing a drink and a new conversation, and walking away with a day you'll remember for a while. A small space holding big inspiration. That's Sugar Hill. A tiny curated bar & kitchen. Where sound meets table. For dreamers and makers.

• Drink order required — one alcoholic drink per person! This doesn't apply if you order a bottle (wine, whiskey, etc.).
• No corkage — outside alcohol isn't allowed.
• No parking on site — you can use the public lot at Yongsan 2-ga-dong Community Center.

Green exterior and the weekday evening mood

Walking through the streets of Haebangchon, I really felt how much of a hotspot this place is...? I knew it was popular, but I didn't expect this much to see and enjoy. Here's what Sugar Hill's exterior looks like! That bright green color really stands out.

We visited around 6pm on a weekday! Since we came early, there weren't any other customers, but as the evening went on the place filled right up. I'd recommend booking ahead. Also, the restroom isn't inside the venue — there's a shared restroom for Sinheung Market right out front!

What are the indoor seats and second floor like?

Here's the interior!! There are seats inside too, but not a huge number. The wine bar itself isn't large — it's cozy, so I'd recommend coming with one friend or a partner. But when I asked, they said group bookings are possible if you want to reserve the whole space! Best to contact them individually for that.

This is the second floor! Each floor has a different mood. This one feels quieter and more private. Overall it has a European atmosphere — I think Sinheung Market itself was designed with that feel in mind.

Here's the menu~~ There's quite a variety of food and meal options. When I asked the owner, they said the steak and fries are the best sellers!!

There's such a wide range of drinks, so you can pick based on your taste!!

The cocktails came out first. Both were sweet-and-sour and delicious!! Very fruity aroma.

They paired really well with the food, so I enjoyed them all the way to the last sip.

The fries came with two sauces — sriracha mayo and ketchup — but they were just okay, pretty ordinary fries.

Next up, the main event — the steak!! Wow, this was genuinely amazing!! It was so good. Hahahaha it literally melted in my mouth, ㅠㅠ. Cooked to a perfect medium too. So tender... I couldn't quite place the flavor of the special sauce on top, but eaten with the steak it brought out this savory depth — best combination ever. ♡

Sipping cocktails, eating steak and fries, soaking in the Sinheung Market atmosphere — total happiness.

Who should visit

If you want to feel that open, free European atmosphere in Haebangchon, Itaewon, Yongsan! If you want to spend time in nice outdoor seating that isn't too loud! Then you really should visit "Sugar Hill." Recommended!!
