Gapyeong dakgalbi after crossing Jaraseom Suspension Bridge: Anbanji
In short
Namiseom Anbanji Dakgalbi is a dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken) restaurant in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, a 2-minute walk from the Nami Island pier. After crossing Jaraseom Suspension Bridge, a 5–8 minute drive brought the family to Anbanji Dakgalbi for salt-grilled dakgalbi at 17,000 won, buckwheat mak guksu (cold noodles) and cheese fondue at 5,000 won. A meal comes with 6 hours of free parking and small dogs under 10kg are allowed, so Anbanji Dakgalbi slots easily into a Jaraseom and Nami Island day out.

From Jaraseom Suspension Bridge to a Gapyeong dakgalbi restaurant
Second week in a row playing in the streams of Gapyeong~ this time on the way back we decided to check out Jaraseom Suspension Bridge and stop by a Gapyeong dakgalbi favorite too.

Here's Jaraseom Suspension Bridge! Not somewhere you linger for long — you cross it once, go up to the top, and that's it. At 165m it's totally manageable.
Made it up to the observation deck. No elevator, just a spiral staircase to walk up. Free parking is available for the Jaraseom Suspension Bridge too.
From there we drove 5–8 minutes to a Gapyeong dakgalbi favorite, Anbanji Dakgalbi and Mak Guksu restaurant.

Anbanji Dakgalbi parking and how far the Nami Island pier is
Parking at Anbanji Dakgalbi and Mak Guksu is free, and it's a really huge lot. The lot across from the restaurant is also part of Anbanji's parking, and if you eat there you get 6 hours free. It's just a 2-minute walk to the pier for Nami Island, so if you're planning to go into Nami Island, eating at Anbanji is highly recommended!
It's also a pet-friendly restaurant that allows small dogs under 10kg :) Dogs are welcome, but please make sure to check the conditions above before bringing yours in.

One reason I recommend Anbanji as a Gapyeong dakgalbi favorite is that it's won an excellence award three years running. That means it's already a proven favorite! And it's notable enough to be listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey, Korea's first restaurant guidebook, which says a lot about its reputation as a Gapyeong favorite.

Even though the restaurant is spacious, it was packed with customers. We visited a little past lunchtime but plenty of tourists were still coming and going. Most were families, and I spotted foreign visitors here and there too!

Anbanji Dakgalbi menu and prices
The menu is simple. You can tell this is a dakgalbi specialty restaurant that's really zeroed in on dakgalbi alone.

Side dishes and the icy dongchimi (water radish kimchi)
Once you order, they bring out the basic side dishes. If you need more, there's a self-serve corner. There was also a spicy bean sprout side dish so you can eat it with rice alongside the dakgalbi.
Oh, and one tip! Make sure to try the dongchimi (watery radish kimchi)~ A bowl of dongchimi with its icy slush already felt like it aided digestion. My healthier alternative to soda, haha.

Salt-grilled dakgalbi and the house dipping sauce
Ordered the salt-grilled dakgalbi! They told us the dakgalbi has enough fat that it needs frequent flipping. Still, the staff came by to check on it and even cut it up into bite-sized pieces for us.
Anbanji Dakgalbi's secret sauce~ just dip the meat in it. If you run out, you can refill it yourself at the self-serve corner!

The best pairing: buckwheat mak guksu
But honestly the best combo is eating it together with buckwheat mak guksu...! Just like eating mak guksu alongside jokbal (pig's trotters), dakgalbi should be eaten with mak guksu too!

Cheese fondue for kids who can't eat spicy food
For kids who can't handle spicy food, I recommend pairing it with cheese fondue~ It's fun with all that stretchy cheese and has a great nutty flavor. It's hard to make this at home, but you can enjoy it here at this Gapyeong dakgalbi favorite, Anbanji, so definitely try it~ The cheese fondue is hot, so be careful~

Why Anbanji Dakgalbi works with young children
One reason I recommend dakgalbi for families with kids is that children tend to like it even more! I left the pieces with bone aside, not planning to eat them, but my second daughter swept them all up, saying she prefers the meat around the bone to the plain meat. She says the meat near the bone is softer and tastier, haha.

There are also framed paintings of the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh's Sunflowers in the waiting area. We had the kids guess whether the Mona Lisa is smiling or expressionless~ Seeing artwork hung on a wall like at a museum, rather than only in picture books, seemed to make them more interested (even though they're reproductions).

There was also a little special event going on. If you're lucky you could win first place~ I wanted to win a first-place serving of dakgalbi, but my first daughter wanted a drink instead, haha. My second daughter wanted another round of cheese fondue~ A fun little extra to the visit.
