Daegu sotbap restaurant, review-event grilled abalone: Haenyeo Sotbap
In short
Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store is a Korean sotbap (rice cooked in a stone pot) restaurant on Cheongsu-ro by Suseong Lake in Daegu. Even with a reservation booked in advance, only a few seats were left, and the meal ran from eel sotbap and an abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi to a 13-dish banchan spread and a finishing sungnyung (scorched rice tea), plus grilled abalone with abalone liver sauce received through the Naver review event. Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store is worth the trip, but book ahead.

Why you should book Haenyeo Sotbap ahead

How were the eel sotbap and the abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi?
🍱 The freshness of the sea, in one bite! We ordered the restaurant's signature recommended dishes — eel sotbap and the abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi (earthenware pot stew).

The moment the neatly arranged 13-dish banchan spread, the steaming sotbap, and the spicy-hot ttukbaegi arrived on the table, their glossy sheen alone made us gasp!

The moment we took the first bite, I found myself blurting out, "Wow, this is a genuinely proper Korean restaurant by Suseong Lake!" 🤎

I recently went to Jeju Island and tried real, local seafood dishes there — but honestly, this sotbap here was even more delicious, which surprised me!

The texture of the rice, the seasoning that hit just right, and the balance between the thick, chewy eel and the fresh seafood were pure art.

It's a quality of sotbap restaurant near Suseong Lake that I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone out for a day trip. 🥰
The 13-dish banchan spread and the sungnyung that ends the meal
Even setting the main dishes aside, the neat basic table setting and finishing touch at Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store were genuinely perfect!
🥗 A generous, clean 13-dish banchan spread: the look alone made us gasp, and each neatly arranged side dish tasted absolutely fresh. The seasoning wasn't overdone, so it paired perfectly with the main dishes.
🍲 Comforting, savory sungnyung: made by scooping out the sotbap's rice and pouring hot water over the scorched bottom, this savory scorched-rice tea disappeared in no time — delicious right to the last sip.
With taste, quality, and generous portions all in one, it was excellent value.

- Eel sotbap fresher than what I had in Jeju, a spicy-hot abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi, and a generous 13-dish banchan set — all excellent!

The grilled abalone we got through the Naver review event was genuinely delicious — savory, rich abalone liver sauce!
