Marinated crab set for three in Haeundae Marine City: Deodo Gejang

A Haeundae Marine City meal spot recommendation

Today I want to introduce a gejang (marinated crab) spot in Haeundae Marine City. It doesn't seem to have been open that long — a new place haha. It was so good for bringing my parents along that I really want to recommend it. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant in Haeundae, please check this out and pay a visit!!!! Deodo Gejang (더도게장).

Deodo Gejang sits on the first floor of the Hanil Ordu commercial building. The Yangsan Tongdosa location is apparently the main store, and this is a directly-run branch. It's newly opened where the Hanil Ordu Tous les Jours used to be.

The interior is really spacious with lots of seating, so it seemed like a great spot for group get-togethers or family meals too!!!

Deodo Gejang menu and prices: how to order for three

The menu at Deodo Gejang only comes as these set platters, and you can add extra crab.

• 📝 Order: 2-person set of 3 kinds of grilled fish + soy/spicy-marinated yellow crab nutritious pot rice — ₩48,000
• Yellow crab nutritious pot rice set (₩18,000) — 1 person

Giving out the spoons and chopsticks wrapped in paper felt nice from a hygiene standpoint 👍🏻

They also have a baby chair on hand 👶🏻

All the dishes we ordered arrived ⭐️ Since the set is meant for two, we added a one-person menu on top. We chose 2 servings of soy crab and 1 serving of spicy marinated crab.

The table was so packed I didn't know what to eat first 😋😋 It had been a while since I'd had a spread this full, so it felt amazing haha!!

Black rice pot rice and a sungnyung finish at Deodo Gejang

The pot rice was black rice. They first scoop it out into a bowl, then

pour hot water into the pot to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea). Eat the black rice first, then finish with the sungnyung — you all know the routine, right~?

Free side dish refills and individual seaweed soup

Side dishes like seasoned cucumber, seasoned mung bean sprouts, seaweed, aged kimchi, and salad. These side dishes are refillable!!!

It's nice that everyone gets their own bowl of seaweed soup too.

There's also fried tofu and an interesting green jeon (savory pancake). The pancake had a bit of corn in it, which was a fun surprise 🌽 Every single side dish was one you'd want to keep reaching for haha.

Soy-marinated crab or spicy marinated crab: which one wins?

First, the rice thief itself, soy crab (ganjang gejang) 🦀 It had been a while since I'd had soy crab ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The meat was packed inside!! One bite and you immediately think of rice 👍🏻 That sweet-and-salty balance was just right for my taste haha. Looking at the photo now, I want to eat it again 😂😂

Next, the other rice thief: spicy marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang). Even as a single serving, the portion looked quite generous.

The marinated crab was moderately spicy. Put rice on a piece of seaweed, top it with crab meat, and it's a perfect combo ❤️ Both the marinated crab and the soy crab were delicious, but since I usually prefer marinated crab, I felt the marinated version won out for me haha!!

Bulgogi hot pot and the three grilled fish at Deodo Gejang

The ddukbulgogi (hot pot bulgogi) had meat, cabbage, and glass noodles in it. It was on the sweeter side, which seemed like a flavor kids would enjoy.

The fish also came in three kinds 🐟 Picking out the bones from grilled fish is a bit of a hassle, but it's yet another rice thief that goes so well with rice!! Between the soy crab, marinated crab, fish, and all the other side dishes, it was a truly satisfying meal haha.

If you're looking for a gejang restaurant or Korean restaurant in Haeundae Marine City, this place is well worth a visit. It was also a great spot to bring my parents to ☺️
