A Chinese meal overlooking Haeundae Beach
I had a reason to stop by Haeundae, so this time I headed over to Marine City. The place I found for a lovely Chinese meal with a view of the sea was Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch.
The first thing I noticed upon entering was the unmistakably upscale atmosphere. The dim, dark-toned interior gave the space a calm yet sophisticated feel. Along with the main dining area, there are several private rooms, so it seems well suited to both family gatherings and quieter occasions.
Above all, the highlight here has to be the ocean view from the window seats! Having a meal while looking out at Haeundae Beach and the Marine City skyline was healing in itself. The tables are also generously spaced, making for a comfortable meal.
The menu is nicely varied, too. From staple meals such as jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) to dishes including yuringi and cream shrimp, there is plenty to choose from according to your taste. The pork loin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) with a black-vinegar-based sauce was especially memorable; the crisp coating and sweet-tangy sauce worked wonderfully together. The jjamppong packed with seafood also seemed worthy of its popularity.
That said, this is a popular spot, so visiting without a reservation may not be easy. I recommend securing a table in advance through Naver Reservation. Parking can also be handled without much trouble by using a nearby commercial parking lot.
If you are craving a lovely Chinese meal for a special day in Haeundae, I recommend Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, where you can enjoy an ocean view as well.

An easy tablet ordering system
There was also something impressive about the service: each table has a tablet, so you can browse the menu comfortably and order right from your seat. Not having to keep calling a staff member made it much easier to focus on the meal at a relaxed pace.

Black-vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk and seafood jjamppong
The pork loin tangsuyuk topped with black-vinegar-based sauce was especially memorable, with a wonderful balance between the crisp fried coating and sweet-tangy sauce. The seafood-filled jjamppong also seemed like a menu item that deserves to be popular.

Does it work for both special occasions and casual meals?
The price range is definitely closer to premium than that of a casual neighborhood Chinese restaurant. If you focus on the sharing dishes, the per-person spend can add up, so it felt better suited to a special day or anniversary. On the other hand, individual dishes such as jajangmyeon and jjamppong are reasonably priced, so it does not feel burdensome to stop in for a casual meal only.
There are also plenty of rooms for group guests, so it looked perfectly suitable for company dinners or gatherings. I saw several groups dining in the rooms during my visit, and with both ocean views and private spaces, it seemed likely to be quite popular for entertaining guests as well.
Overall, it has all three: food, atmosphere, and view. If you are looking for a special meal while visiting Haeundae, this should be a thoroughly satisfying choice.
