Gangneung sundubu restaurant for a hangover breakfast: Pick Up To You

Second morning in Gangneung: searching for a hangover breakfast
The place I found on the second morning of my Gangneung trip was Gukbap Cafe Pick Up To You. I'd just gone on a 2-night, 3-day trip, and maybe because I played too hard the first night, my head was pounding the moment I woke up on day two. No hesitation — I immediately searched for the best hangover soup spots in Gangneung. After a long-overdue night out that stretched on, I desperately needed something hot and soupy.

I narrowed down a few candidates close to my accommodation, and one review that caught my eye said this place was more popular with locals than tourists, so I headed over to Gukbap Cafe Pick Up To You. The name itself stuck in my memory for being unique, and I later found out it also does takeout and pickup, which seemed perfect for a busy morning schedule.
Is there parking at Gukbap Cafe Pick Up To You?
The parking spaces are a bit tight, so it might be tough during busy hours! I went early in the morning and scored a spot right in front of the shop, lucky me haha.

What the café-style gukbap restaurant looks like inside
The moment I opened the door at Gukbap Cafe Pick Up To You, a deep, savory aroma drifted out and filled the air with the smell of something delicious... True to its café-style gukbap concept, the interior felt clean and bright, unlike a typical soup restaurant. Even at that early hour, a delivery rider showed up, which made me guess this place is popular around the neighborhood.

Menu and prices at Pick Up To You
Looking at the menu, there was a wide range of options, from rich beef-bone broths to spicy mala-style soups. Prices ranged between ₩8,000 and ₩10,000, which felt like pretty solid value. Especially with how crazy prices have gotten these days...
My husband and I have different tastes, so it's rare for both of us to be happy with the same meal. Whenever there's food we can each enjoy in our own way, it feels like such a relief. There was also a receipt review event running, so I joined in and scored some free tteokgalbi.

How the beef-bone sundubu with sundae and meat tasted
I ordered the beef-bone sundubu at Gukbap Cafe Pick Up To You with sundae (Korean blood sausage) and extra meat added, and I loved it from the moment it arrived — a bowl brimming with pale, milky broth. One spoonful in, and the thick, nutty flavor of long-simmered bones spread through my mouth, while the sundubu (soft tofu) was smooth and gentle going down. One taste and I could immediately tell this wasn't store-bought stock, but homemade.

The sundae and meat added on top had a chewy texture with no gamey smell, which made every bite more fun to chew through. It wasn't too salty, with just the right seasoning, so my stomach felt warmly soothed as I worked through the bowl, and I could feel the rough shape I was in from the night before gradually easing.

Was the mala gukbap worth ordering?
My husband ordered the mala gukbap, and he said the spicy, numbing aroma hit first, but the aftertaste was clean and refreshing. He described it as spicy with a slight tingling kick that woke him right up, making it perfect for a hangover cure too. There was plenty of meat in it as well, so he got to enjoy the texture, not just the broth.
The side dishes were mild and clean, pairing well with both dishes, and once we mixed in the rice, our bowls emptied fast.

Takeout and pickup at Pick Up To You
This place seems to have a really well-organized system, because the pickup bell kept ringing with takeout customers the whole time. It seems especially handy for anyone traveling who wants to save time but still eat something hearty.

The prices are affordable enough that I'd stop by again without hesitation if I'm ever back in this neighborhood. If you overdid it the night before or just want to start your day with something hearty, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant I found on my trip as a go-to for a hangover breakfast in Gangneung.

The message board and other things to look at
There's also a fun little detail from the owner's cute sense of style haha. There's a message board set up in one corner, and it looks like some visitors leave behind memories from their trip there.

For anyone struggling with a rough morning, or wondering what hearty breakfast to plan for a trip, I hope this post helps a little in finding a good hangover restaurant in Gangneung.
