I went to hang out in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, after a long time, and stopped by Moana Burger, famous as a handmade burger spot there! I'd heard several times that it's a must-visit burger place if you're in Chodang-dong!

What is the Moana Burger space in Chodang-dong like?

The entrance felt open and airy right from the start! The sign design had a strong New York feel that really caught my eye. The overall mood of the place had that same kind of free, New York vibe!

The interior was clean and pleasant too. It's an open kitchen, so you could see the cooking happening!

The shop was really spacious and open, but it didn't have that many seats!

Seating included two-person tables, four-person tables, and standing seats!

Mascot dog Yeoreum, and can you bring your pet to Moana Burger?

Moana Burger's mascot, Yeoreum!! Oh, she was seriously so cute... she was so gentle that she just sat still when I petted her, and she was so pretty!! Moana Burger is a pet-friendly restaurant, so it seems like a great place to bring your pet along.

Moana Burger menu and prices

There were three types of burgers: the Moana Burger, the Hawaiian Burger, and the Double Moana. Every burger came with fries included as a default side.

There were buffalo wings on the side menu, which looked delicious too! Drinks ranged from soft drinks to beer! And there was a ₩2,000 discount on draft beer when ordering a burger.

If I hadn't been driving, I would have had a cold beer — that part was a bit disappointing.

We ordered the signature Moana Burger and the Hawaiian Burger, which has pineapple in it! The Moana Burger was ₩13,000 and the Hawaiian Burger was ₩14,000!

How does the Moana Burger taste? A juicy thick patty

The burger I ordered finally arrived! Doesn't it look mouthwatering just from the visual alone? The buttery, savory bun was packed with a juicy patty and plenty of fresh vegetables.

Can you see all that juice bursting out...? Taking a bite, the flavor that spread through my mouth was truly amazing. The patty was really thick and the juices burst out — the natural flavor of the meat really came through, which was so satisfying.

Looking at the cross-section of the burger, you can really tell how generously it's packed with ingredients, right? Inside the Moana Burger there's red onion, romaine, tomato, the meat patty, cheese, and the owner's homemade sauce!

Hawaiian Burger: pineapple with the beef patty

The other item I ordered was the Hawaiian Burger! It skips the red onion and has pineapple instead! The combination of the meat patty and pineapple in the Hawaiian Burger is seriously insane...

The fries that came alongside were warm and crispy too, making a fantastic combo with the burger. The salty flavor kept making me reach for more...

Is Moana Burger worth it for lunch in Chodang-dong, Gangneung?

Moana Burger, a well-known spot in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, was truly beyond expectations. The harmony of the juicy handmade patty, the savory bun, and the fresh vegetables was perfect. Being pet-friendly was a plus too, and I loved the friendly owner, the spacious restaurant, and the ample parking!

It was a genuinely great restaurant I'd love to visit again next time I'm in Gangneung! You might think, 'I came to Gangneung and I'm getting a burger?!' but honestly, the moment the burger arrives you'll be impressed by the look of it, and one bite in you'll be impressed by the taste... It was the best handmade burger I've had recently... If you're deciding on lunch in Chodang-dong, definitely stop by Moana Burger!
