Seoul Forest ice cream café: Hokkaido-worthy milk soft serve, Mellows

I just got back from a trip to Hokkaido last week, where I ate a ridiculous amount of ice cream. And the ice cream at Mellows (멜로우즈) in Ttukseom was as good as what I had in Sapporo. Saved myself a plane ticket ✈️

Where is Mellows, and what are the hours?

Mellows is at 7 Wangsimni-ro 10-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 1st floor, about a 2-minute walk from Exit 7 of Ttukseom Station. It's open 07:00–01:00 on weekdays and 11:00–19:00 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.

There's a terrace in front of the shop, so on a nice day it's great for having coffee or ice cream outside.

Mellows also sells alcohol in the evening, so it seems to be popular as a spot for that open-air drinking vibe in the Seongsu area. Around 9 p.m. the outdoor seats were often full.

What is the indoor seating like at Mellows?

Inside there are 2 tables and a bar counter. It's a comfortable place to sit down and take a break.

It's right by Ttukseom Station, so it's handy for a quick rest while you wander around Seongsu or Seoul Forest, and on weekdays it's open from early morning until late at night.

Prices at Mellows are cheap: an americano is ₩2,500 and the milk soft serve is ₩3,500. It's a good place to drop by for ice cream and a drink.

Is the Mellows milk soft serve as good as Hokkaido ice cream?

Mellows' milk soft serve (₩3,500) is made on a base of Sangha Farm (상하목장) organic milk, so you get that rich, nutty, true-milk flavor. And look at it, the soft serve is adorable, right?

Above all, the texture is so smooth it melts in your mouth! 🍦 No need to go all the way to Hokkaido for ice cream! There's crunchy cereal underneath and a lollipop-style cookie on top, so eating it together with the soft ice cream is fun texture-wise.

Is the Mellows iced matcha latte bitter or sweet?

Mellows' iced matcha latte (₩3,500) was quite a bit sweeter than I expected. The smooth, sweet flavor came through more than a strong, bitter matcha taste, so I recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet matcha latte!

Having the milk soft serve and the matcha latte together added up to extra sweetness, and it made a nice dessert while enjoying the night breeze on the terrace.
